Minimoog Pops! and other issue.

Post by Xanthene » Sat Oct 30, 2010 4:01 pm

Do any of you get a popping sound when you have attack set at 0? When I have set at 0 and I'm hitting notes (especially low ones) I hear a bad high pop at the start of the note. Adding some attack helps eliminate it, I'm just wondering if this is normal.

Another issue I noticed is that my AUX IN LED isn't working. It never indicates when the incoming sound is too loud or is clipping.

I'm asking a bunch of these questions because I have a used Minimoog OS and just want to make sure it's working as it should.

Thanks!

The pop at 0 attack is normal. If you don't want it, just slightly add some attack. The big complaint with many digital synths was that they wouldn't do that. (envelopes too sluggish.)
MAke sure your inout switch is on, turn up the level at the mixer and run a HOT signal into it, it will light!

Nice to hear about the attack being at 0 and popping not being a problem, but the AUX IN LED won't light at all. HOT signals and volume all the way up on the mixer and nothing. It clips in the sound, but the light does not turn on.

If the LED doesn't work but the actual function does, it really doesn't matter if it overloads or not, you can pretty much hear when it overloads. Thats something you can fix when you send it in to the factory at a later time for an upgrade or tuning or something like that.

Maybe the LED is not connected.
I'm getting tired of running down moog's built quality, but when i bought mine, all green LEDs for the digital control where not connected...
