I'm a bit pissed off (not really i'm thrilled at the chance to get a 104 of any kind) that the original has 10ms shorter shortest (104 = 40-800ms, 104z = 50-1000ms) delay time than the z but i wouldn't pay $900 more for 10ms if you know what i mean.

I doubt it would have a shorter minimum, though I'm not sure. But if you're looking for a delay time that small I think you should also consider looking into a chorus pedal.

Nah, i don't want a chorus (well i kinda do but you can use the z or original 104 for chorus, chorus effects are usually within 30-60ms) it's phasing and flanging that are closer to what i'd like to do with the sd (if it does have a really short delay time that is) but really, i just want to play around with the crazy things that can happen in the haas zone in a more experimental way than using stock standard time-modulation effects. Sure Phaser, flanger and chorus are all really cool and if I wanted a phaser (which i do) i would get the moog one (which i will) that would be far better than any phaser effect i could approximate with a delay, but it's the other noises that nobody likes enough for someone to make a pedal, that i want to explore.

But any 104 could make me happy, it's rare to be able to play around with delay as much as moog has made possible.

Has anyone heard any news about the release date for the SD?

MF104SD #006 just arrived this afternoon.

From the manual......

Short delay time range is 60ms to 700ms, Long range is 120ms to 1400ms.

I'll have to fill you in later about how it sounds.

My SD isn't here yet, though according to Sweetwater sales; "We are expecting them in here on 9/12".

Well thats good to know. Was the price on the SD ever confirmed?

Does it get really muddy at the max delay time. If you know anything about the Blacet Time Machine how does it rate next to it?

i'm glad i'm getting the Z i nearly tried to spend the extra and get the SD, hoping it would go shorter than the Z, but it can't go as short.

OKay. Quick first impression. 104SD through the Voyager insert.

Nasty dirty!!! Great self-oscillation and pitch-bending weirdness with the feedback and delay time controls. Think very controllable overdriven amp feedback.

Lots of harmonics. The Drive amp makes you forget about any darkness. I was thinking about putting a Fulltone OCD into the mix but I don't think that's gonna be necessary now.

It's interesting that you ran the 104 in the Voyager insert. The VCO's are always running that way. That is the VCO are pretty much droneing without any space.

I've just been fooling about with a 74 SG through a JoeMeek VC6Q into the 104SD.

Does a pretty good slap, Gets noticably dark quickly though with guitar.

Just got the SD today. Shortest delay time is 60 milliseconds. The top of it is at 1400 milliseconds. Its wonderful. kind of surprising to hear an analog delay go that long. Getting it to feedback at its longest time is unreal.

how does the sound compare to the MF-104? Does the MF-104SD get that high pitched clock noise like the MF-104 on the longer settings?
