Early Minimoog Model D for sale

Post by rotorcraft » Tue May 29, 2012 2:47 pm

Hello-

I am interested in selling my Minimoog Model D- It is a great early model, one of the first 50 made, and looks almost new.

I am the second owner, and have had it since 1999.

It is in very good cosmetic condition, however it needs a good cleaning. Technically everything appears to work, however the pots/switches are a bit scratchy. It still outputs sounds.

I have had it stored in a closet for the last 5 years. Previous to that it was in my smoke free in home studio, and never left the house.

I will send high resolution photos to anyone interested.

I live in the Seattle area, and would love a local buyer, but will ship in anywhere in the USA for the actual shipping charges.

My plan is to eventually list it on ebay if needed. My ebay seller name is jeffkoval, if you would like to check my feedback.

My asking price as it sits is $2500.00 plus shipping.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks-

Hello-
So after a couple of PM discussions, the serial # appears to be some type of mystery..
I have never messed with it, and from close inspection to the case, it doesn't appear that anyone else has either.

When I get home tonight, I will take another close up of the serial # tag as well as the sticker (might be two) that is inside of the unit, as I know there is at least one with some type of date and persons initials.

Anyhow, I hope those that recieved photos agree that it is in great cosmetic shape. We just might not be able to easily determine just how old it is.

I will also see if I get some photos to post on the site this time. didn't have any luch with my original post.

Thanks

Jeff

Well, I took the back off the mini last night and there is in fact a label inside with the following information:

Final Assembly- 3-3-71 (March 3rd,1971) initialed in ink by KIR, KIC, or KIY (hard to tell for sure)
Mechanical Inspection 3-71 (March 1971) no day specified (initialed in ink by DH)
SERIAL 1041

Information in bold type is hand written in blue ink.

mystery continues.... (at least on my part)

According to informations on the Moog Archives site, and if the serial number is right, your Mini would have been one of five originally given (sold?) to the family of Dave VanKoevering, from March 09 to March 11, 1971. He was then vice president of marketing for Moog Music. Since you've stated that you're the second owner, you must have bought it from a member of that family ?

It would also be the forty first Minimoog D to have been produced. Serial numbers having started at 1001 for the first unit.

Yes, I remember running across that same information when I researched it right after I bought it.

You do realize that the thread you're responding to is from 2 years ago?

According to sales records found on the Moog Archives web site (maintained by Roger Luther formerly of the original Moog Music Inc back in the seventies), Minimoog D with serials from 1040 to 1043 were sold to the VanKoevering family (not to Dave himself).

And yes, this thread is already almost two years old, so I doubt that the user rotorcraft still has his early Mini for sale...
