Finally bought a Voyager

Post by gd » Sat Jun 18, 2005 8:01 pm

Having owned a Mini D in the 70's I have wanted one again. I thought long and hard about buying another D but decided to go for the new Voyager and not worry about breakdowns while gigging. I also have a Moog Source which I truely love and I believe that the 2 will augment each other. I am still looking into adding a Darkstar Chaos and a few other modules just for added fun.

Congratulations and welcome to the club! You made the right choice, in my opinion.

I luv this kybd. I will keep this on the top rack of my 3 tiered stand with the Source on 2nd and the ObX-a and 1st (when I get it).
I just checked and have op. sys 2.1 what are the differenced with upgrading to the latest os? I have read that I have to install each upgrade in sequence for them to work.
I like having both the AE and Source going a once, having owned a mini D throughout the 70's I quite like my new combo.

Yeah, welcome. Good to see you own a Revolution. I have a 777 (and a 303) and the 777 is an incredible synth..

The lastest OS is v2.5. You can upgrade to it directly from 2.1. You only had to upgrade in sequence from older OS versions.

OS v2.5 added SysEx transfer improvements and compatibility with the SoundTower Editor/Librarian. I believe a few bug fixes were also included, but these would be minor in any case. No harm in upgrading to the latest OS, IMO.

Congrats and welcome!

thank-you all your advice is much appreciated. What midi interface are you using - I need another one for my home studio and was going to go with the Motu lite (5x5)

Hi - I use the Motu XT Express. Its an old Parallel port 8x8. Complete pig to configure inside a PC but once up it is everything you want and very tight.. I particularly like the fact that it has a additional 'Sync' port that can be used to mirror a clock signal to all 8 outs. Some programs like Ableton Live4 can only send clock to a single port which is where this comes in handy. Even if you are using something like Cubase which can send clock to multi ports, sending to this single virtual port should give better timing..

Good luck..
