Soon-to-be Voyager owner
Re: Soon-to-be Voyager owner
Actually, the Voyager will own YOU, because you will be spoiled.
I played a Fantom G8 when it first came out awhile back, and messing with the synth, I was pised because there was only a few knobs, and I couldn't simply just reach for the resonance pot and turn that.

Re: Soon-to-be Voyager owner
Kenneth,
I saw a previous post of yours wondering about how many Old Schools were made. 500 was the
original amount and now from people I have spoken to, there should something approaching 700 due to demand.
I am very interested in knowing yours' seriel number. I am excited for you, I know what a day like today
feels like. I waited but the UPS driver on my arrival day but he never knocked on my apartment door. He left a notice on my door at 3:15 PM and I was pissed.
So got in my car and drove to UPS and it was in the warehouse and then in my car by 5:00 PM.
Happiest ride home ever.
Dave

Yeah, I really don't like the brown truck because I've had similar bad experiences with them. Curiously, with the slower and less expensive snail mail (USPS) I've never had any problems.Logodave wrote:... I waited but the UPS driver on my arrival day but he never knocked on my apartment door. To get back on topic, I remember very well the ride home from the store with my Old School on the back seat in its cardboard box. I had to concentrated very hard on driving...the excitement was overwhelming.

Voyagers delivered to Duluth need to be burned in for 48 hours prior to depresing a key or the warranty will be voided and they will be prone to explosion.

Re: Soon-to-be Voyager owner
Hey Kenneth... congrats on that. I remember the day I got my Old School. It was a similar situation; open box but from Nova Musik. I read somewhere that Moog was discontinuing the VOS and I panic'ed. I too had a Phatty at the time (still do).
Mine is White Wash and I've since had it back to the factory for flashing and clear wheels on the LHC, the legato perf control and a trim pot installed in place of the fixed resistor for CV tuning.
Get your hands on a VX-351 and then play that thing with pride; there is nothing else like it !!
(and in future if anybody sees something they like at a NY based retailer, let me know and I'll be happy to check it out for you; I'm local)

Re: Soon-to-be Voyager owner
I'm in love. This is different from the LP in a way that I did not expect. Though I have played a Voyager before, I've never been able to sit down with it an spend some quality time tweaking it. Even just one oscillator is worlds away from the Phatty.
The wood block in between the highest key and the end cheek is loose. Anyone else have this issue?
Also, when it's in the ATA case, I can hear it bouncing around when I carry it. Is that normal?

Re: Soon-to-be Voyager owner
You might be hearing the panel move a little bit, or the metal thing that holds the panel up.
Sorry about the loose piece.

Re: Soon-to-be Voyager owner
Kenneth, I remember that my Old School had also a loose block on the right end of the keyboard. It's held in place by a wood screw. I fixed it myself by very carefully removing the mod wheels, unplugging the aftertouch and wiring harness from the keyboard, and removing the keyboard itself (8 screws underneath). I could then tighten that screw on the side of the block, if I remember right (that was over a year and a half ago).
As such, I was able to avoid making another trip to the store, and another trip to the Moog authorized repair shop. I was VERY careful (especially with that ribbon connector for the aftertouch) and I didn't tell anyone, so the warranty would still be valid.
Do it at your own risk.
