Mystery Note in Operation Manual

Post by hochrock » Thu May 03, 2012 11:20 pm

I bought a Micromoog from a guy in Asheville NC (I have read Bob Moog lived there until he passed) on eBay around 2003. It came with the original Operation Manual and had a little handwritten note stapled to the back cover. If anyone has any guesses about where and what the note may be for, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

Here is a link to a picture of the note: http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelhoc ... /lightbox/

EJE Research corp. (Adco Circuits Inc.) might have been a place where it was sent, at one point, for repairs (I'm guessing here). The phone numbers at the bottom are the current ones for this company.
The first one might have been Bob Moog's old phone number back then ? (again speculating).

Notice the spelling error? "Robet" Moog. Someone was in a hurry.

Oh, hochrock!

What a coincidence!

You happened to find the Micromoog which I had left unattended at a bus stop three months ago in French Road in Buffalo while vacationing in the USA.

EJE Research is a pizzeria I was planning to visit.

And that's not Bob Moog's phone number, it's mine. Unfortunately I left the phone unattended at the bus stop as well.

Well, all is good etc etc.

Just take the Micromoog and ship it to me at the following address:

Joe Smartass, etc etc,

I will send you back a couple of used Justin Bieber CDs, to reward your courtesy.

Thanks Again

EJE Research is the company that acquired Moog Music from Norlin in 1986 and renamed it Moog Electronics. They continued to honor waranty repairs, and the only music related product they made was the Rocky guitar amplifier.

I visited Moog Music on Walden Ave in Cheektowaga in 1985 while they were still with Norlin but no longer producing synthesizers. I bought my Memorymoog Plus from a closeout sale there for $1000 (in hindsight I should had bought two). I visited the EJE/Moog Electronics facility in 1987 - then moved from Walden Ave - to pick up CEM3310s and a closeout Moog Taurus II controller.

They are now located at 20 French Rd. according to a quick Google search. They are a small outfit of 50-99 employees. They've been around since 1972. Wonder if there's any old Moog parts lying around there. 8)
