Broken Moog Source?

Post by Clayboy5000 » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:49 am

Bought a non-working Moog Source a couple month ago and have been having my local synth repair guy troubleshoot his way through the board. Looks like the problem is with the logic in the Main Control Board. Not sure if is the processor yet or something else. Just putting some feelers out there to see if anyone has a broken Source for sale or perhaps just the digital control board (I believe that's the one with the problem). Thanks!

Looks like the problem is with the Z80 Processor, the Ram, or the DAC. Anyone have a Source for parts with Z80 or ram they could sell me?

All of those components are on the data buss, but so is the eprom.
Given the age, I'd suspect the eprom before CPU, RAM or DAC, but I can't say what your tech is observing.
I can supply some or all of those chips, but I'd recommend more troubleshooting before guessing at parts.
Good luck.

Kevin, I don't know what the analog synthesizer community would do without you. Just the thought of it disturbs me.
