Little Phatty Stuck Note ISSUE!

Hey people!

Im having serious issues with my little phatty, with the stuck MIDI note, as I see its quite a popular problem with the Phatty's and I have had a look at all the posts and nothing i've read seems to shed any light on fixing my issue.

The issue with mine is that ill be playing a melody line or anything on the Phatty into Logic via my Midi interface (Motu 128) and after 5 minutes of playing Boom a note will be stuck, and the Only way I can stop it from being Un-stuck is by turning the Phatty on and off again.

I've tried re-setting the Midi channels on the Motu and the Phatty and re-setting the Local Control on the Phatty basically everything MIDI based on the Phatty i've tried to re-set whilst the note is stuck and the only option is to stop it, is to turn the Phatty on and Off again. I have no idea what can cause this very frequently Issue with it, It happens every time I use the Phatty its ridiculous! I've even re installed the OS on the Phatty as well but nothing seems to have changed there!. May I just add that its always a random note that gets stuck rather than a particular note.

If anyone can shed some light or help me fix this major annoying problem it would be great and much appreciated!

Have you tried the all notes off command in the phatty menu or is power cycling the only way? Not that it is a solution to your problem, but maybe it will help someone to help you.

I got a stuck note for the 1st time in 3 years+ with my little phatty stage 1 last week. It had to with how my sequencer (MachineDrum) handles being stopped while it was sustaining a note.

Do you have another midi interface you could try? Just trying to narrow down the cause.
Was their a dense steam of midi CCs in addition to the note information going to the phatty?
Was the phatty following midi clock or using it's internal clock?

Well when I play my melody's into logic that's Usually fine, but when it occurs the most when I play it back or when I record the Phatty it will just get stuck on a note halfway through a 10 second recording.

I don't have a another interface at the moment no, but my Korg R3 seems fine and that uses the same interface and I've never had a stuck note with that since I've bought it 4 years ago.

I'm not sure how to check to the stream of MIDI CC's, how do I do that? and its using the Internal clock.

I have a similar problem – set up in polyphony, I get seemingly random dropping of one (or more) voices after short durations of playing. I have to power cycle all the units in order to resolve. I emailed Amos about when the update mentioned several times will be landing, but no reply yet. I'm starting to get a little frustrated since poly was a touted feature of the Phatty family, which is why I took the plunge in the first place. Sadly, at this point, I'm wishing I had opted for a Prophet '08 from the standpoint of poly implementation...

Are you automating parameter changes from your midi source? Is what I meant.

Did you perform the usb processor firmware update? The stage 2s and slims have a processor separate from the main processor that handles midi. There is an update for this to help with stuck notes. Cleared up many but not all issues.

When you say 3.01, do you mean 3.12? If that is the version you've updated to and are still having issues, you should contact Moog Support. I know there is a new firmware update in the works, but there has not been a release date set yet, AFAIK.

I also remember when the new Rekon VST came out a couple months ago, Amos had mentioned the new firmware would be out in a week. Oh well. I am curious what's being added under the hood this time?

No not the system firmware. There is a separate firmware for the usb processor (it also handles midi through the DIN sockets).

V34 is the newest I think. Here is a link to the discussion. Look at the post by amos.
