It almost sounds like a guitar... but this is a synth, correct? moog?

As a kid I used to think it was a Roland GR700 guitar synth - I can't remeber why I reached that conclusion.

I'm pretty sure it is a guitar. I think its the Roland guitar synth as well.

That sound is awesome, and it's just enough 'guitar' and 'synth' to sort of confuse you.

There is a very good sound of this lead for the Waldorf microQ and Q done by Howard Scarr for the Waldorf Soundbank.

It had me confused when I listened to it recently. I thought the solo was a guitar, and there was a synth on the intro and a bit before the solo.

Howard Jones played a synth through a Marshall guitar amp and cab miked up to get an cool synth/guitar sound on one of his 80's records I remember. That's one way to do it.
