VX 351 Noise

Post by OLFAudio » Tue Apr 19, 2005 12:51 am

So I installed my VX 351 today and I am getting a very high pitched noise whenever I plug any patch from it to a MF or the voyager. I don't hear it if I monitor through the headphone jack. Only through my monitors. I double checked the multi pin cable to make sure it was seated properly.

I am running it with an voyager and it is powering a CP 251 as well. I'm sure it could be a 'dirty' power issue but was wondering if anyone had experienced this problem and had found other solutions.

Any words of wisdom would be super.

The noise will go away if you don't power the CP from the VX.
I'm waiting to hear if there is a shielding fix for this since I'd really prefer not to use the AC adaptor for the CP.

Thanks for the reply. The noise isn't always there but I guess I'll go back to using the wall wart for the CP.

I have /had the same problem . . as soon as i added a 9v powersupply to the 251 it went away. Funny thing is that it wasn't always there . . I powered the 351 and 251 from the Voyager for about a year without any problems?

Buzz is gone after adding 9v back to 251.

So how can I get the VX351 to supply power to the CP251? I can't seem to find it in the user manuals. I just want to try it out, see how it works.

Thanks

It may be an instruction sheet that came with the VX351 "Rackmount kit", if I remember it included a ribbon cable for power connection between the 351 and 251. The instruction sheet is not on the Moog website, shoot 'em an email.

Yes it comes with the rackmount kit and requires removing the end wood panels and installing a new centre panel between the 2 units which passes a newly supplied jumper cable.

OK, that explaines. I haven't got the rackmount unit yet.

Thanks all!
