Voyager signature edition?

Hi guys i have seen a signature edition for sale however i have heard a few horror
stories about the early voyagers i.e pitch and mod wheels behaving funny.
so does anyone here own a signature edition? are these comments unfounded?

I own an SE. The only issue I'm aware of is noise when the volume pot is set to 5. That was ratified a long time ago and SEs carry a four year warranty, so the fix is a warranty fix. I never had any other problems with it.

Agreed. It is a warranty issue. The sig ed's should be the most valuable down the road as well- however, don't look at it like that, just enjoy it for being a Voyager!

Can someone explain to me why everyone seems to think that the Sig. Editions are going to be "the most valuable" in the future?

Is it because they were the first made? It seems to me that the SE is going to go down in history as "the one with bugs". Yes, I am aware that the issue is easily corrected, but these things have a tendency to getting blown out of proportion with time.

Is it that they have Bog signature? Well, lots of Voyagers that aren't SE's have Bob's John Hancock.

I don't really care how "valuable" my AE will be in 20 years. I honestly am not trying to start something or be snide and I am certainly not attacking anyone who loves their SE, I just want to know the reasoning behind this line of thinking.

So, what's about the handmade chassis.
I compared mine SE to some "normal" Voyagers, and the wooden pieces feel and look a diffrent in details. That's the most imporatant thing to me, and not the signature. Also the certificate from moog is worth something.
But to be honest, the time i decided to buy a voyager, there wasn't any othe available. So it had to be #579....

yes but i am in the uk so there wouldn't be a factory fix it would be a 17 year old at turnkey that doesn't know what they are doing

RLMusic won't fix your Voyager . . firstly it's Kent Spong that does all or Richards restoration and servicing, go to the service page on the rlmusic website and ring Kent . . he's very, very good but very, very busy.

Neither of them are moog certified so you will be voiding any warranties left on your Voyager.

Turnkeys send the moogs out to a company in the East End . . can't remember their name but they don't do the servicing themselves so you won't get a 17 year old fixing your trusted moog (they did for a short while). Call Nick Thomas at Turnkeys and have confidence that they can do it for you.

My SE #86 has only recently excibited the noise past 5 problem . . I found the fix for it on another forum, bought the 3 chips and a capacitor that needs replacing and did the fix myself . . it took 20 minutes to do. The only other problem that I experience is that there is a tiny pitch inbalance on the pitch wheel . . it pitched up more then it pitched down, originally it was a full semitone difference but with the 2.1 upgrade where you had to adjust the trim i was able to flatten it out somewhat . . now with OS 2.5 she runs as good as any later Voyager.

So how will the Signature stand up against some of these signed AE's in terms of the most valuable? I don't think it'll matter in the end, the Voyager is a fine piece of analog equipment. I love it signature or not, I'm never parting with it!

It's more than the signature. Signature Edition has that brass badge and was available in walnut, maple, and cherry. Moog Music does offer exotic woods for the performer edition but none of the SE woods.

I have a walnut SE and that brass badge looks mighty sharp.

True, I'll give ya the brass badge. AE's were available in different woods also, I know walnut and maple to selected stores, for example BigCityMusic.
