Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
Hi all, excited to be here, finally owning a piece of history that I can now call my pride and joy and a centerpiece for my production.
I apologize if this topic has been addressed already, but I performed a search in this forum and couldn't come up with anything. I am currently using the Voyager on my desk, but it isn't a huge desk and I need to make room for other things. I've done endless searches on Google and can't seem to come up with a definitive answer: is there any stand, that is safe for this amazing instrument? Or even a dedicated stand specifically made for the Voyager? Having already spent a pretty penny, I really don't want to settle for anything less than perfect. The thing that concerns me most is the Voyager's depth.
Thanks, and again, I apologize if I'm being redundant.

Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
I would go for something like K&M 18810 if I was about to get a new stand for my Voyager

Mine is sitting on a 2-tier Proline X stand.

An older pic..

I saw this stand selling for $100. It's worth every penny and has a quick release lever under one of the stand's arms. Very sturdy and stable, but might be a littler higher than normal due to the width of the Voyager. Its a grat height to stand and play. The top tier is heavy enough to hold 100lbs.

Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
I currently have an On Stage Z-stand. Earthquake proof...perfect for those programming Moog bass as well as providing a garage for a Taurus III. Try e-Bay for a good deal...otherwise, they cost a bit.

Minitaur, CP-251, EHX #1 Echo, EHX Space Drums/Crash Pads, QSC GX-3, Pyramid stereo power amp, Miracle Pianos, Walking Stick ribbon controller, Synthutron.com, 1983 Hammond organ, dot com modular.

Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
I really appreciate the replies, everybody, and I'm glad to get some validation for the stands I've already been looking at. And Eric, that is an impressive setup. Looks like you take a lot of pride into your work and invested a lot of your time in creating your temple. Keep up the good work!
Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
Which stand did you go with?
I use a platform stand by On stage. It allows me to slide my rack underneath it.

@Erik: I can just imagine the additional sounds created by all the China rattling from the bass!
"Music expresses that which can not be said and on which it is impossible to be silent."
Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
That's surely not my china!
My grandmother wasn't too keen with my synthezizer being in her house, but my wife and I had to move in with her because we became her primary caregivers when she was diagnosed with moderate AD. We have since moved and my entire studio is spread out between three counties.
Im REALLY glad that we did move because if we stayed and my grandmother would have seen that I've strung up a 134 foot off center fed dipole for my hamshack she would have really been upset then.
A couple of years from now, I think I will be able to finally consolidate my studio into one room.
But again, that stand works well and at the music store they had 2 Roland Fantom G8's on it, so it is pretty sturdy.

Yeah, a couple years from now I'll need a bigger room for my studio. I'm crammed into my bedroom, so my stepson could have his room in the studio. He's almost 4. In the meantime, I'm slowly building a modular, starting with the cabinet. Then I'll start working on a PolyPhatty rack system. It never ends.EricK wrote:/snip/

I'm in the dining room, slowly inching my way into taking over the living room. It's the only area of the house with a vaulted ceiling. I put up a little divider so you can't see all the goodies from the front door.
Nobody but Jehovahs Witnesses ever seem to come by anyways and I doubt they are into music.
OT the Ultimate Apex stands are rock solid. I've had one for over 20 years. Built a 32"x18" shelf for the top and secured it to the stand with clothes dryer vent clamps. I'd post a pic but the file is too big. Shelf sits right above the EB to hold a Frostwave Fat Controller and anything else that needs to be close by.
Update: Just got visited by the Mormons. Told them I'm Buddhist and they said "Cool". They offered to repaint my house and re-roof it too. Is Mitt trying to buy my vote?

Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
Oh, how I wish. Unfortunately I'm still a couple of payments away from paying off the Voyager completely. I figure I'll go for a Z-stand though, those look great. For the time being it's still sitting on the center of my desk, which makes a lot of sense as it is essentially the centerpiece to my "studio."

Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
The K&M Omega is my preferred stand for all of my synths, and my Minimoog Voyager and Eventide Space are on it.
@Erick
Hey, I hope your grandmother is doing ok and that she gets better soon.

Re: Stand for my Minimoog Voyager
Spitfire, thanks for the response. This is the first stand I've seen that I actually feel really and truly safe about. And I can expand it if I want to with another synth or effects rack. Good call!
