NYC Repairs

hello,

I have all the moogerfoogers and I'm pretty convinced my ring mod is screwy. any time it's enabled, if I'm not touching the strings on my guitar it drifts into this high-pitch slight feedback and everytime I then touch the strings there's a pretty decent POP that occurs.

so... I think I need to take her into the shop. where in NYC can I do this. any of you mods or other folks know? any ballpark on how much this should cost (without knowing the actual problem)? I've never taken a pedal to the doctor before....

I don't think you Ring Mod is broken. When you are not touching your strings, your guitar makes a ground noise. Thouching the strings eliminates this noise. This noise signal goes to the ring mod, and the ring mod does what ring mods do.

I may be way off, maybe you could describe the noise better.

I'll have to experiment. the only reason I am sort of convinced is because the sound has changed. that is to say... it never has done this before.

I'll have to fiddle with it. thanks for your reply. I'll let you know in greater detail how it sounds and behaves if I still think she's broken after fiddlin'.
