How to record LP in Maschine or Ableton w/Duet 2

Post by Rdej47 » Sun Jan 29, 2012 9:23 pm

Hey everybody, first time posting here and i'm hoping to get some help from everyone. I'm just wondering how to record the LP into Maschine or Ableton. I've got a 1/4" to XLR going from the Moog into the Duet 2 (I set it to Mic mode, couldn't get any sound from it being in instrument mode). I get a mono signal and I was just wondering if this is normal. How do people get it to be a stereo sound or is this necessary. I just find it weird hearing the sound coming out of only one speaker. I know this is a bit of a noob question but could someone give me some further explanation on this.

I have an SP, and its a MONO instrument. Which means you need to change the 'Stereo' setting to 'Mono' on the channel strip that you're recording into.

Exactly. The LP and SP are monosynths (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xGiOdq6cBM).

It sounds like you have ableton configured to only listen to stereo channels. You can change this in the audio settings in the preference window. Make sure there is a mono channel selected. When it is, you'll be able to use that as an input channel on the audio track (the drop down tab on the audio from field).

Hope that helps.
