I'm hoping that's the end of my bad luck with the VOS - I really don't want to sell her - she was a 40th birthday present to myself & is the centrepiece of my rig....but if I keep having faults every 12 months then I'd have to seriously consider selling

One failsafe way would be to do like collectors do; never actually use it !

But where would be the fun in that, I ask you ?

to be fair she hardly gets that much hammer - I dont get to do music anywhere near as much as I like, so its only probably a few hours use a week....maybe that's the problem ?

Maybe I should at least switch her on a bit more, even if I'm not playing her...?

Not really. As with everything electronic, not powering on your VOS reduces the risk of something going wrong with it, at least for the electric side, aside from accidentally dropping it on the floor or something like that (or have cats scratch the wood casing as seen in another thread). That's a small consolation for not playing it as much as you would want to...

well, despite the cost I've got to say a 1 week door-to-door turnaround time from Source Distribution here in the UK was pretty commendable - fired the VOS up last night...& remembered just why I love that beautiful rich full sound.

I wish I knew of these issues earlier and hope everyone has had their's resolved. I purchased my new Moog Voyager Old School last week and OSC 2 did not work out of the box. It would only make a click or pop when the waveform knob was turned near the saw wave. It is on its way to Moog Music as I type this. I hope this is the ONLY issue or that they find others and correct them before I get it back. I paid basically full price ($2495.00) for it and had high hopes to add another Moog to go with my LP Stage II, but now I am just a bit dissapointed. I hope I feel better about this purchase when I get it back. My serial number: OS0640 in Virginia.

That's a real let down!

Frankly, I'm surprised that on such a limited run (around 700 made) there are so many cases of defective synths?

Especially when the OS has much less electronics inside than a regular Voyager...

Excluding myself, I now know of 3 other OS owners who had problems with theirs!

A friend of mine who had a non-working aftertouch right out of the box,
Mine on which the S&H went dead,
xmit who had OSC 3 go dead on him,
And now you with a dead OSC 2 right out of the box...
So much for Quality Control at Moog Music!

Also, I had noticed that the keyboard quality and feel on my OS wasn't on par with regular Voyagers ...

Anyway, I sincerely hope you get yours back quickly and fully functionnal, and that it will remain that way for years after this painful event...

Moog Music diagnosed the problem with my new Voyager OS (a bad quad IC) and corrected it. I am hoping and optimimistic that this will be the end of any issues. I am curious how many Voyager Os synthesizers were produced, 1,000? Not too many serial #s recorded here yet.

According to some sources, around 700 were produced (as I wrote in my last post BTW

Got my voyager OS back this afternoon and all oscillators are working now but what is up with the main outs and headphone audio not matching? They are reversed. You do not notice it until you turn the filter spacing knob. On main outs the sound sweeps to left when you turn the knob to the right. In headphones the sound sweeps to the side you turn the knob which seems correct. Another issue?
