Minitaur/Minimoog question
Minitaur/Minimoog question
Hello all..im sorta dense on a lot of "how to" hookups, but would it be possible to jack in the new Minitaur into my Voyager oldschool and get a 5 oscillator machine? Or into one of my older Moogs, like the micro or the Polymoogs? Imagine the sounds this combined with a liberation would do! Any and all tips, hints, tricks advice is certainly welcomed!
Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
Sure.
Although on the older moogs you'll need an S-trigger to V-trigger converter - the Minitaur is V-trigger

Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
Excellent..as soon as i can get ahold of a Minitaur,i'll start with that! Next month,or whenever its released....
Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
Not to mention the MiniTaur is volt/Hz as opposed to volt/oct...you may find the MiniTaur doesn't play well with others.

Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
When i purchased my OS,i got a CP-251 as an incentive to buy (which worked on getting me to buy it). To date, ive never used it...would this assist me in rigging this up? Sorry to sound like such a babe in the woods, but in addition to being a rotten keyboardist,im semi in the dark on chaining things together.Getting my hands on old equiptment, on the other hand i have excelled at..so any tips, hints and instructions you folks can give are greatly appreciated!

The T3 and MiniT have standard V/Oct inputs - there's some conversion going on in there to talk to the V/Hz oscillators.Voltor07 wrote:Not to mention the MiniTaur is volt/Hz as opposed to volt/oct...you may find the MiniTaur doesn't play well with others.

Hmm, after reading the T3 manual, I would have to concur. Interesting.Mr Arkadin wrote:The T3 and MiniT have standard V/Oct inputs - there's some conversion going on in there to talk to the V/Hz oscillators.Voltor07 wrote:Not to mention the MiniTaur is volt/Hz as opposed to volt/oct...you may find the MiniTaur doesn't play well with others.

Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
You should watch more youtube vids featuring Moog synths and the CP-251 so you can get the most from this powerhouse of a rig. Once you figure out the CP-251, it will give you more of an idea on how CV connections work. The OS has no MIDI, so you won't be able to connect the MiniTaur to it unless you use the CV outs and/or audio out on the OS.Monger wrote:When i purchased my OS,i got a CP-251 as an incentive to buy (which worked on getting me to buy it). Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
I agree with you on that.In fact, tonight i will start my initial experimentation, using the guide that comes with the 251 as a starting point.I have seen some clips on youtube of a guy named synthpro actually running his polymoog into it and while it seemed basic what he was doing (but he explained it in detail) the results were exciting. This will be a good starting point to understanding CV and im not sure what a "Gate" is but i will have to start someplace. I will keep you posted with my results from my initial experiments.
Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
A gate voltage takes the place of a pressed key.
Synthpro is amazing at what he does. I learned a lot from him, as well.

Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
Indeed..scanning the CP-251 booklet now,but some "hands on/eyefull" instructions never hurt.I think perhaps i may start making little clips of my own to assist current/future novices of my "findings".

Re: Minitaur/Minimoog question
Thanks Erik...im starting my experimentation today, using the CP-251,minimoog OS,and a moogerfooger ring modulator.I also have a moogerfooger filter, but i dont want to bite of more than i can chew to start off with.I went yesterday and purchased a pack of colored cables to start out with.I reckon i could also use the micromoog in place of the Voyager OS,But the CV in/out isnt clearly defind, but i do see inputs and audios out.So in this instance i think i will use the OS,as its more clearly defined for a novice at going modular
