Animoog crash on launch

Post by KingVidiot » Fri Nov 04, 2011 2:05 pm

I just purchased Animoog for my iPad 1 running iOS 3.2. I am well within the posted specs. It crashes after the initial splash screen. I rebooted the iPad and it still happens. All other apps are fine. I know it's only $0.99 but yikes! I noticed many other people are having the problem in the review section in the app store.

Help!

I suppose you have some reason for still being on 3.2 -- bandwidth problem, perhaps? -- but you're missing out on a lot of nice new features and fixes. Just saying....

This may not be the answer you'd like to hear as it doesn't really address the issue, but as Newstech ponders, do you have a practical reason for remaining on iOS 3.2? That's the version that was released with the introduction of the original iPad nineteen months ago in April 2010, meaning you haven't once updated the software.

I don't mean to be a Negative Nancy here, but you really are missing out on some greatness in iOS 5. One great example is that Animoog functions as expected.

Well, since I have a proper jailbreak running untethered I have been a bit hesitant to upgrade to OS 4.2 or higher. I know I'm missing out on Core MIDI and other cool stuff, but the real point of this is that I'm running all my current apps (around 300) just fine and the Animoog specs clearly say OS 3.2 or higher on iPad 1 or 2. Other than having to upgrade the OS does anyone have a suggestion? Bueller?

I use my iPad every day like a crutch, and I don't feel like upgrading it until next month or so. If I had to upgrade to run Animoog I would have waited until I 'm upgraded to purchase it. Does that make sense? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Well, you still made the right move by buying at 99 cents. As it stands, Animoog is a real memory hog. Maybe the first bugfix release will help you out.

Crap, that's just about the best argument imaginable. As a relatively new iPad user (I bought both Animoog and Filtatron on Oct 17, without yet having an iOS device on which to use them until a week later), I hadn't considered someone like you that had invested not only a considerable amount of money, but also comfort in their device.

Apologies again for the negativity, and an update has been released! Perhaps this may fix things for you.

This is only a problem if it doesn't work on a non-jailbroken iPad, jail breaking by definition makes unapproved, uncontrolled changes to the iPad and you take your chance whether or not things will work. I'm surprised this even needs to be said.

No problem. You see my predicament. Hopefully an update will fix my problem. There are several other folks commenting in the app store that have the same issue.

At least I now know that Moog doesn't read their own forums for problems.

As stated in my last msg other folks are having this problem. The fact that you are surprised is irrelevant. Since I have over 300 apps working just fine with the jailbreak your comment is also irrelevant. Many of these working apps are way more complicated and memory intensive than Animoog. If the jailbreak changes so much then explain all of that. I think you're just trolling.

Not trolling at all, just tired of people whining that their unsupported configuration isn't supported. As I said, if it doesn't work on a jailbroken iPod (and that running a very old version of IOS) then that is irrelevant, if you devoted your energies to updating your machine then your "bug reports" might have some credibility.

It could be that you have too many apps open. Double click on the iPad and close all the apps a the bottom of the iPad and then launch Animoog.

are you able to update your iOS to 5.1.1? That should fix it.

Mine's working just fine Amos. Running latest iOS version and Animoog 1.0.4.
