Voyager Newbie Help Please

Post by Dave008 » Thu May 12, 2005 4:50 pm

Hey, im new to this forum and i was just wondering if anybody could help me out with these questions regarding the Minimoog Voyager.

1. How many presests and preset banks does the voyager hold?

2.Is these any way to upgrade the voyager so it can hold more presets and preset banks?

3.What commands do i use when i want to upload new patch banks from this site to my voyager without erasing the factory patches and banks that come standard with the voyager?

Thx

Hey, Thanks for the reply. So the Voyager can only hold 1 bank? That kinda sucks.

So how many banks can i load with the Voyager software? How does that work exactly?

Thx

Yes, I think an analog synth needs at least 10000 presets.

Yes, I agree with RL on this. The Voyager is about quality not quantity, and 128 brilliant sounds - hopefully created by yourself - are worth more than 10000 predictable presets. With this in mind, don't be put off by the lack of banks and presets. If you want a great sounding instrument, the Voyager is an investment worth making.

Hey Guys, i've already bought a voyager and im producing hip-hop and i love it. I was just wondering about the presets.

So how many presets and banks can i load and view with the Voyager editor software?

Can i have all my banks loaded up in the software and listen to them all through the software controlled by a midi controller?

Then once i like a sound how do i load it up in the Voyager and not over- ride a factory preset?

Tnx

From http://www.soundtower.com/moog/index.htm

PRESET USER BANK AND LIBRARIAN FUNCTIONS

Our librarian lets you store unlimited number of MOOG Voyager patches. In addition, you can have as many Library files on your computer as you want. The librarian provides for you 32 sound categories to organize your sounds and to have them available for immediate use. Initially, we named some categories like Piano, Organs, Leads and Bells but you are welcome to rename them according to your style or needs.

You'll have to read the software documentation. I'm not familiar with it.

128 memory bank is sad. The technology to increase the capacity couldn't have increased the price of the Voyager that significantly at that time so I wonder why it was limited to this? Maybe cause they didn't want to deal with categories and bank pages.

:)

I like your kind of sarcastic humor.

And a synth with more then 1000 presets need no knob at all.
Including volume.

keep on turning these Moog knobs
