Building a synth?

Post by AJeff » Sat Oct 18, 2003 2:37 pm

I was wondering if anyone has ever built a synth? Is it possible and is it expensive? Does anyone know where i can get schematics or website so i can find stuff on how to build one?

Thanks

I've thought about building a synth myself. . .it's actually quite simple to build a simple synth. . .the following url is a good starting point. . .

http://www.tone.net/tech/analog_synth_primer/

also you can get free IC's from. . .

http://www.maxim-ic.com/

they will send 1 or 2 demo chips to you. . .which for a simple synth all you need is one VCO and one VCA.

I'm still looking for a very small keyboard. :-)

I was wondering could i take apart a crappy keyboard and use the keys from that? And how would I add knobs to it so i can like mess with the wave forms?

Thanks for all your help
