Hi Michel, and thanks for the report!

About the Arp clock sending, I think it's an oversight not to send MIDI Start and Stop messages when start/stopping the arp.
I'll add this.

Does it make sense the LP should only send clock out when the arp is running?
Or is it good/useful to send clock all the time?

I am thinking it's best to have the following:
press to start the Arpeggiator, LP sends:
MIDI Start
MIDI Clock messages at arpeggiator BPM.

press to stop the Arpeggiator, LP stops sending MIDI clock and sends a MIDI Stop message.

Does this sound correct? Any other suggestions about the clock?

Sounds about right to me. And when you say "start" the arp, you mean press in the encoder? (and only if SEND clock is On? : )

latest OS

Post by jgirv » Fri May 06, 2011 12:19 am

...getting this firmware thing figured out... procedure makes sense, once you do it a few times!

...latest OS also requires re-calibration of notes and OSC 2 after completion of firmware update.

I did get a chance to test the volume velocity response before starting the calibration routine, and it does work.

Looking forward to trying out the various other changes to the OS when the unit finishes the note calib.

thanks for the excitement and glad to be beta testing this one.

Updated my Stage II from 2.2 to the latest 3.1beta2 (with the 16 step velo update)

After the first update my presets from memory slots 0-20 were gone! Luckily after a reboot they came back, everything's been working ok since :D

Even made my first custom quarter tone scale last night - works like a charm! Very happy camper here :) One thing though - if the helpfile is correct, I can only change a keys tune by +-100 cents max? No way to get this increased in the future to like +-300 cents or something (a much more "working" range for tuning IMHO - For some perverted 12-note tunings, +-100 cents isn't enough.. )?

One thing I've noticed is that when I switch tunings in the settings, the names of the tunings do not update until I've selected the tuning I want.. only then the "labels" of the tunings update themselves. A cosmetic thing so no biggie...

Oddly enough, I didn't feel the need for any calibration.. is it because I have autotune off by default (and always have a chromatic tuner hanging from the headphone out when I play, adjusting tuning on the fly like in the old days)?

The only people who will need to re-calibrate after firmware update now, are the people who tried the first beta. :-)
I fixed the cause of this problem, so if you still have OS 2 and you update to the most recent or any future OS3 version, you should not need to recalibrate your LP. Although, if you do recalibrate now, in theory the tuning should be somewhat tighter and better than before.

Care to elaborate on this a bit more? I've only done the calibration once with my LP, and even after it, I still didn't get acceptable tuning results without switching autotune off and tuning everything manually all the time..

Does the recalib change the relative tunings of notes to each other? If so then I am interested.. many of my patches go "out of tune" within a few octaves..

Contact Amos directly. Tribute (and their owner) is special and requires a different boot loader update than Stage (or at least it did; I helped with an earlier port of v3 code and remember having a similar issue)

LP TRIBUTE EDITION:

I have not released the OS3 update for Tribute Edition yet.
I'm still having a problem with stuck notes on the Tribute.
I made some progress yesterday and it's a lot better now, but not at a reliable level yet.
Just working a bit on the note calibration this morning, since we've been talking about it,
then I will resume work on the Tribute Edition stuck note issue.

Thanks for your patience!

In regards to this situation, is there a proper way to use the mp-201 so that the note isn't automatically "latched" when turning on the lp with one of the mp-201 cables plugged in to the KB gate?

Also, what's the word on my suspended midi cc request? Like I said, I'm cool with whatever Amos decides (implement/not implement), but I'm just curious.

Thanks
