SP Questions about midi automation in Ableton

Post by roodbwoy » Mon Apr 04, 2011 3:25 pm

Hi all!

I am planning to buy a Moog Slim Phatty and was wondering how the automation and recording of midi via USB works in Ableton (or any other DAW), for example, does Ableton records the midi CC that the SP sends when I twist knobs and vice versa, can I draw automation directly to the parameters in the SP the same way I automate my VSTI parameters?

I red about some problems with some VST host application and Ableton reinitializing the SP when you save/open the project. Any information, tips and idea's on this because the lack of the above functionality would be kind of a deal breaker for me ;)

I use Ableton 8.2 and Windows 7 (32bit)

Thanks for the time taken

Automating the CC data would give you basically what you get with automating plug-in, yes. I'm not sure what you mean by reinitializing... you still have to save your patches if you want them to be there later. Albeit, with CC data alone you could probably automate an approximate version of your patch.
