Voyager OS, help me decide

I caught the MINI bug off an on for the past couple of years and I might finally scratch the itch.

Looking to keep things simple so the Voyager old school looks very attractive to me! I'm also on the fence to go all in and go for a Model D but quite frankly, I'm not sure if I want to maintain another vintage synth plus I'm a guitar player anyway, what do I know? I like the general tone of the Voyager (from you tube demo's) but have not heard too many dirty/aggressive demo's on e-bay. Links anybody?

I fix my own synths i.e. vintage Oberheim OB's, Chroma's, Prophets, MOOG rogue etc so servicing a vintage Moog can't be that bad right The only new synth I have is a Prophet 08 which can cover alot of ground when the vintage units are on the bench.

Might unload a few Synths to make some room. Probably let the Moog Rogue, Yamaha DX7II, and an Alesis ION I have not played in years find new homes to make room for another Moog and raise some funds.

Whats your thoughts? Mini D, second hand Voyager, or old school Voyager?

if you can fix vintage synths, i'd suggest a model d.
If you can also fix a voyager, i think this would be a better choice considering the availability of replacement parts. Also the new features are nice.

You're asking two different questions here: Voyager OS v Voyager, and Voyager OS v Mini D. Starting with the second, some people will be truly after the sound of an "original" Mini D, although myself I can't tell the difference - I think those who propound a difference sometimes just turn the volume on the Mini D up a bit! (only joking - I'd like to keep my membership of this forum). However, if you're not into history, the Voyager OS has way more modulation possibilities - you can make some ELP sounds that Keith Emerson made on a big Moog Modular on an OS, but not on a Mini D. "Modulation" on a Mini D is limited to Osc 3/Noise. As for Voyager OS v Voyager, it depends whether you're a compulsive knob-twiddler or would rather have some presets. I'm a twiddler, but I don't use my OS for live gigging. If I did, I confess I might rather have a straight Voyager for that. I'd have to put up with the menus, though, and for me that would spoil just playing with it.
