taurus turn it on again
taurus turn it on again
I don't understand how daryl stuermer is playing quarter notes on the T1 during "Abacab" and "Turn it on again" and the only thing I'm hearing is 8th notes. Abacab live link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk4OVoJZ ... re=related
At 0.05 min you can see him play the taurus. I know he's also playing regular bass guitar at the same time but this is not the case for Turn it on again.

Re: taurus turn it on again
It's running through a delay pedal which provides 1 repeat at the same volume as the played note. He actually demonstrates this on the We Can't Dance tour documentary.

In another movie ( We can't dance ? ), he explains to use delay with Turn it on again.
I think it is hard to keep the tempo.

Re: taurus turn it on again
Is this on the dvd that comes with the We can't dance box set version?
Re: taurus turn it on again
If I recall correctly, the doc was on the VHS version but didn't make it on to the DVD version.
Re: taurus turn it on again
Is there anyone who has an idea how they sync it with the beat in live shows? Especially in Turn It On Again the pulsating beat comes and goes in different parts of the song and the medley, always coming back in sync. Is it a post production trick or what? Thank you.
Re: taurus turn it on again
No need to use Delays etc with the T3, just select Factory Preset L1 and alter the 'Frequency' to about 4.18 or 4.19 which is the Tempo for Turn It On Again (Live Version), add a bit more Cut-Off/Resonance (can't remember which), plus change the 'Octave' setting so it stays in the same Octave and hey presto!
For the breaks just press the 'Decay' button to stop the sequence, press the button again to re-select the Decay function then press the pedal to start again.

Thank you very much! However I am more concerned about how they managed it with the T1 and T2s back in 80s. Is the tempo synced to a click track which I don't think is the case because Chester Thompson is not wearing any headphones or something alike. Can it be tap tempo? They use the 8th note thing on most of the medley parts as well, coming and going in perfect sync.
Ok, which live version's tempo is this? There are so many
And I'm talking about playing live, not playing over the recorded version of the song. Thanks anyway!..

Guess I wasn't paying attention when that thread was originally posted. I haven't seen that clip since the 80's (on MTV when the whole series of videos were being shown). Thanks for that.
I have to say, Tony Banks, the guy from Level 42 and Greg Hawkes from the Cars (?) have to be my favorite 80's keyboard players to watch live. Great music.
Not many bands that have a good mix of keys and guitar/bass since.
