Voyager 50ae SO Update problem

Post by Ablektro » Tue Nov 23, 2010 6:02 pm

Hi!

I have my Voyager with v2.1 and now I want to update to v3.5. I use Sysex librarian (and I read all related posts of the forum), the problem is when I receive the .syx the voyager doesn't do anything, the progress bar don't appears, all the time the display says "waiting for system exclusive...."
But I can send System ROM, Boot system and presets... Can I send .syx but can't receive?
I try with two different midi interfeces (motu ultralite & midi Keyboard with midi out) with OSX 10.6

In Voyager:
I enable midi in &out (2.3 & 2.4)
I enable sysex (3.3)

In Sysex Librarian:
I try with different transmit speeds
I try different milliseconds

I don't know what can I do...
I'm doing something wrong? my minimoog is broken?

Thanks from Barcelona
Regards.

Are you sending the update in the proper order? Part 1 is not the first one to upload. Also, make sure you have backed up all your patches before you upgrade! They WILL be erased during the update.

Yes, I know the order B,A,C,D but don't response. I do the back up of my patches, no problem to do this.

Thanks for response.

Can you send MIDI notes and other MIDI stuff to the Voyager without problems?

Yes, in my sequencer I recorded midi notes and some parameters (cut, res, spacing...) and the voyager reads correctly

Thanks Rudi

Hmm,
unfortunately I don't have a MAC computer but when you're sending the SysEx file is there a running bargraph or so on the screen?

Sysex Librarian shows a running baragraph and complete the operation, but voyager don´t do nothing.

Thanks for you time.

OK, is it possible for you to transfer the boot and the system data of your Voyager to your computer and can you send these file to rudi at moogmusic dot de?
I will test the operating software 2.1 on my Voyager.

Hello -

Just to chime in - there are a couple settings in the Master Mode you may want to check:

Master Mode: Receive Presets. Sysex should be ENABLED.
Master Mode: SysEx Device ID. This should probably be set to "1" (I'm not sure if it applies to firmware or not)

If those are set correctly then it must be something else. I've just seen these two settings affect the ability to receive SysEx before so I thought I would mention them.

Hi Rudi!

Hi Steve,
the firmware is independent of the SysEx ID.
Meanwhile I got the 2.1 version of the customer and on my Voyager I can make updates
with the 2.1 version. I think there's a problem with the MIDI interface or the drivers.
As you already know I have absolutely no knowledge of MAC computers :(
I'll take care of this "Mooger" from Barcelona via email.
Have fun,
Rudi

Oh boy - you're right!
I really thought the ID doesn't affect the firmware update.
I think I'm getting old :?
OK, I will change that on the next update to make the updates a little bit easier.
Have fun,
Rudi

Can you explain if this is also the problem i am experiencing?

-Voyager with latest ROM update.
- Logic express7 on MAC OSX 10.4.11

I send panel sound to Logic, and it shows the SYSEX message in the events. I have the Voyager SYSEX-enabled, on I.D. '1' . When I play the region with the SYSEX info, either nothing happens, or there is patchy transmition of data. It is unusable as a means of patch transfer.

Bizarrely, I can send SYSEX to my AKAI MPC, and this transmits to the Voyager OK, at the expense of the MPC's timeline (if you press play, it stumbles over the SYSEX data, then resumes normal time behaviour; I presumed you are not supposed to have sysex messages in realtime- am I wrong?)

HELP- I would dearly love to store all my patch changes without needing to save them as presets.

Thanks
Matthew :?:
