Voyager Eight polyphonic rackmount

Post by MC » Sun Oct 24, 2010 1:31 pm

This is better known as a Voyetra Eight, but its original name was Voyager Eight when it first appeared in July 1981.

Octave-Plateau also made a monophonic Voyager One rackmount at the same time, but I've never seen one anywhere.

These are NOT photoshopped - I scanned these out of my keyboard magazine archives.

edit: The forum crops these pics, the large format pics are here

Very interesting! The layout reminds me somewhat of Studio Electronics gear.

I think you're gonna get a lot of hits on this post with a title like that ;)

Yes, I remember the Voyetra 8. New Order had about four of them, so their work from that time probably showcases them quite a bit.

Nice find. A cool piece of history!

Edgar Winter's been using his for years, to do the ARP 2600 parts in Frankenstein. WHen he did MoogFest in NYC, I helped him program the Moog Voyager so he could play it for the show. We both found that it did the original sound MUCH better than the Voyetra he'd been using for decades!

one more reason to get the Real Voyager 8 being made quick.

(the other one is that I really would love to play an 8 voice voyager .)
