Hey everyone, new LP owner here. I'm looking for an amplifier that has reverb in order to use my LP at band reshearsal and small gigs (with no PA). The only things I've found are the Alesis Sumo (discountinued) and the Roland KC-880 ($1,000). My budget is under $500.
I know, I could use a reverb pedal, but I want to see if I can find an amp with reverb first.
Any recommendations from the experts on here!?
Thanks,
Dan
Amplifier with Reverb Recommendation?
Re: Amplifier with Reverb Recommendation?
If you want a powerful clean sound, I find powered speakers to be really great. Picked up the idea
from a good friend who is a touring pro, and tried everything - he wound up using a QSC K8 (bit above your budget)
JBL, Mackie and Behringer all make decent ones that are affordable. Of course, no reverb.
You can get a Behringer B212 for $271 online, and that's got 450 watts. That leaves you $230 for a reverb...
I use one or two of those live, with a little mixer for 'verb, etc. Works great, easy to deal with.
Your hip friends will diss you for the Behringer, but you've got the LP, so your coolness factor will remain outstanding.
Also, hit Craigslist. A big, reasonably clean guitar amp, like a Fender Twin Reverb might be fun.
The cheeper keyboard amps tend to be a bit underpowered for live stuff.

Re: Amplifier with Reverb Recommendation?
I use a carvin pa (xp 880) for my phatty, and I am quite happy with it's sound quality. Also the built in reverb and delay sound good and are more adjustable than a lot of built in effects I've seen. The XP 800L is $400 w/o speaker cabs (check craigslist for those), and $600 w/2 10's.
Stage II, MF-102, MF-105m, MF-107, paia theremin, akai s2000, yamaha pss 680, yamaha cp 25, and other stuff

+1 on the powered speaker option. I use two different types at home. One set of rather small desktop monitors and one set of old Philips powered hi-fi speakers from the 70's. I also use a Roland AC60 which has reverb, delay and chorus built in. Not the most powerfull amp, but nice for my kind of music (ambient/space music). I would definately get a separate reverb pedal since that will give you a lot more options and maybe even both delay and reverb in the same box.
Re: Amplifier with Reverb Recommendation?
Thanks for all the replies, fellas. I found a Behringer B212A on CL listed for $220. I'm sure I could get it for $200, or you think lower? Would this be a good option?
