Thread for "Who is going to MoogFest 2010?"

Post by EMwhite » Fri Sep 24, 2010 11:52 pm

Am I the last one to book or the first?

Anyway, I managed to arrange for the trip (from New Jersey) but for a single day. Staying in Charlotte near the airport and driving up for all day Friday leaving [unfortunately] Saturday morning. But hey, getting to see Devo, MGMT, bands that I haven't heard of and to be surrounded by rabid Moog/Music fans, what could be better.

Anybody else going?

I wish I could go, if not just to volunteer.

THe workshops and sound labs interest me the most.

I'm considering it. Annandale NJ >> Asheville NC >> Annandale NJ seems like a lot of driving though.

I'm going for the whole weekend. I bought my tickets as soon as they went on sale and reserved a hotel early. I'm more interested in the workshops and seeing DEVO. Most of the other acts I have no idea who they are. Maybe I'll find something new to like.

I would except your Bass player plays with a pick. I can't support that!

(just kidding) Your collection of Moog gear makes up for it.

I'm only there on Friday into Saturday morning, else I would surely check you guys out. Lots of bands booked, glad you were able to get in, going to be a hell of a weekend; just wish I had more time but happy to get there at all.

well, actually... four of us play bass during the set, two play with a pick, two don't. so, really you can at least partially support us based on the pick/no pick criteria, ha!

I'm going Friday. Looking forward to Devo, but wish Big Boi wasn't playing at the same time.

Four bass players in one band? What are you trying to do, corner the market? :)

I have housing available if anyone is in need for Moogfest. It's a house 2.5 miles from downtown and it sleeps 8-10 people for $250 a night. Let me know!

Looks like Devo won't be performing.

According to Moogfest.com, the guitarist sliced his thumb down to the bone severing a tendon and as a result, they had to cancel upcoming tour dates.

I hope he gets better!

DEVO Forced to Postpone Upcoming Tour Dates Due to Serious Hand Injury Sustained by Guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh

DEVO deeply regret that they have had to postpone all of their upcoming live dates for 2010 due to a serious hand injury sustained by guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh. A glass shard sliced Mothersbaugh’s right thumb to the bone, severing a tendon. He underwent immediate emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery after proper care and therapy.

From Facebook:

The Bob Moog Foundation VIA MOOGFEST (re: Devo's change of plans): We were on the phone yesterday w Mark Mothersbaugh & Gerald Casale from Devo. In spite of Bob's accident, both of them are still coming to Moogfest and they are working on a couple of performance ideas, including a possible collaboration with another band. We're all still discussing the possibilities but both Mark and Gerald have promised something immensely entertaining.

I know I wouldn't miss out on a free Voyager XL!

I heard of you guys back when I lived in Halifax, before moving to Edmonton.. didn't realize you were from here. Nice to see some local guys into synths. I've met few but not very many haha.

Question, do you ever play around with polychaining the Voyagers? I try it with my LP and RME, but it's a bit wonky with note selection. Thought about getting multiple RME's before, but now that the Slim's are out I was thinking about going down that road... You ever play around with that at all?

Liking the song/vid by the way.
