problems with envelope ext/on

Post by galino » Sun Aug 29, 2010 3:21 am

Hi all, I was hoping to get some advise on a few issues I'm having with the voyager old school. I've had the unit for a few months now but can't remember whether or not this was a problem when I got it.

I want to process external audio without having to hold the key down however setting the evelope gate to ext/on doesn't make any difference, nothing is plugged into the cv/gate IN so the envelope should default to being continually triggered or is there something I'm forgeting. I often use an external cv/gate sequencer to control this synth if that makes any difference.

One other unrelated issue I had is with osc3, the frequency knob has no affect when turned so the osc can't be tuned. I can't see that there's any setting/function that might be causing this.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Do you have the sustain of the ADSR's turned up when using the ext/on? If it is low, there will be no sound.

And OSC3, is it on at the mixer and the volume turned up at the mixer? Range switch to high?

Yes the envelope sustain is set to it's max level. The ext audio is clearly audible when holding a key down in keyboard mode. It seems like it's defaulting to accept cv/gate IN even though nothing is plugged in.

Re osc3, it is turned on and clearly audible, it's just that the frequency knob has no effect so the osc can't be tuned which is very annoying. It's a new unit and well treated so I can't understand why it's malfunctioning. And if it is it's too much hassle/money to send it overseas to moog to get it repaired. Thanks very much for the advice though.

This will sound stupid, but try inserting a patch cord into the ext gate input and then removing it. I have to do that to mine every now and then to get it to work.
As far as the knob, is the set screw tight?

Have a try with the attack and decay controls not set to zero.
