To make synths, you have to really hustle...

Post by Kevin Lightner » Sat Aug 28, 2010 10:08 pm

Bob Moog dancing at the after-hours party at Namm.
February 2000.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joLoefIwU8Y

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWeOT8tCcLc

Please forgive all the wisecracks on the audio.
It'd been a long day, everyone had a few beers (except Bob) and we were having fun.
Bob kicked up his heels for about 17 minutes straight. :)

I will also upload a video of Don Buchla and David Kean improvising on some Buchla gear there just before the dancing above started.

Classic!

Bob knew how to design synths and boogie.

Great footage, Kevin!

I can’t believe that you guys actually made this. I am sure that there are a lot of people out there that would appreciate the things that you guys did here. It is indeed a lot of hard work and effort to make this such a successful piece of video. I have to say that you guys actually did a very good job at it and I have to say that it is very perfect indeed.

That NAMM was a very fun time. The party was great.
Never in my life did I ever expect to be in the same room as both Bob Moog and Don Buchla!

wow Kevin & Monica,
thanks for the uploads,
I remember seeing pictures of that exhibition and being so impressed
with all those legendary prototypes, Roger Luther's Moog modular, pictures of Bob Moog and Don Buchla together - and the next year, Moog Music showed that mock-up prototype Voyager @ NAMM - these were happier and exciting times somehow :?

Never in my life did I expect to see Bob and Don dancing on the floor. There were a lot of synthheads there that night. That was a great party and a great NAMM show. I helped set up that exhibition, too cool!!!

Thanks Kevin/Monica for uploading the party video.

Yes, it was quite a crowd, wasn't it? :)
I'd forgotten about the exhibition until I saw the tape again. That brought back a lot of memories, too! :D
