MuRF overload ?

Post by ClockworkRobot » Wed Aug 25, 2010 9:56 am

I just picked up a second hand MuRF. Checking it out it appears mostly ok but I noticed that if I crank the 3.4k slider all the way to the top and play a short stab of sound, I can generate noisy feedback in the MuRF that slowly builds until the overload light turns red and the unit crunches out.

It can be avoided by keeping that slider low but I was wondering if this was normal behaviour or a fault?

Thanks.

I think I can answer my own question and will do so just in case anyone else finds the info useful.

I found as a played with the pedal the fault became more difficult to replicate.
I also noticed some of the sliders had a slight bit of crackle on them.. As I played with them that went away.

So I think what has happened is this pedal has been sitting unused for a while and a bad contact on the last slider was causing crackle to feed through the machine. Solution.. give the slider a wiggle
(or clean or replace if it's really bad).

:D

Glad to hear it cleared up. I was worried for you, but did not have enough knowledge to comment.
