Moog modulars today: where and how much ?

Post by THM » Fri Sep 26, 2003 11:01 am

Does anybody know where I'd have the chance to buy a great old working MOOG modular like the System 35 or 55, or the even older System 3C ? And how much would these beauties cost (appr.) - let's say for a basic version ?

I saw some great looking ones on http://www.analogsynths.com/ (in the "Store" section; and they're still there) but I've never got any answer to my mails (asking for exact setup - which modules - and price).

Thanks for giving me any more info.

A stock IIIc or System 55 can set you back at least $20,000, System 35 $12,000. Expanded modulars (extra cabinet, more modules, ribbon controller, etc) will set you back even more. Smaller modulars like the System 15 go for $6,000.

analogsynths.com will ask for higher prices, they're major hoarders and they don't bargain.

Your best bet may be the VEMIA auctions. I think they're coming around in November.

> MoogCE

Good luck contacting them. They finally sent me a reply to and email sent 2 years ago last year, and I'm STILL waiting for a reply to that message!

Thanks for warning me.

I had a similar (although not that bad) experience with the people from Polyfusion; sent them a mail several months ago for prices of the modular (and original MOOG) systems somewhere on their website, and still haven't got any answer yet. :(

I sent both MOOGCE and Polyfusion emails last week asking if they have copies of moog modular owner's manual. They both replied on the same day!

Funny, you would think that someone enquiring about purchasing modules would actually get a faster response then copied pieces of paper.

Totally agreed. Now called Modusonics, they have always had atrocious sales support. They replied to my original email inquiring about a copy of the moog modular owner's manual. Several subsequent emails have gone without response.
