The Imperialist West will pay for their use of chords. Polyphony is the true corrupter of society.

If Moog did release a Poly, I would have to buy one (it's just the way I'm built). But truthfully, I don't need one. I have a Matrix 6 that I bought off eBay for < $400. Sure, I could have added several hundred to it and bought a desktop Prophet '08 but the Matrix is a really nice kbd, and I've since mated it with a Matrix 6r for up to 12 voices.Mr Arkadin wrote:The Imperialist West will pay for their use of chords. A friend of mine who was all into Arp through the 70s recently said "Mike, all you need is a monophonic Analog synth and a Hammond." Of course, he was a geezer before the 80's hit (my generation) so doesn't have a penchant for lush strings and pads like I do, but he has a point.
'76 Minimoog, Taurus 3, Oberheim FVS + Son of 2-voice; Sequential ProOne; Juno 106; Moog Model 15; Kurzweil 250; Hammond M3; and a handful of Fender Basses Flickr!

I'll say to add an Omni or a Solina and you've got it knocked with the Hammond and the Monosysnth!
And Latigid on! Thanks for the tip. I knew there had to be an ignore function on the forum!

i think you're talking in a strange way, is it to be heard? then please take a look again at the childish way you verbalise ( in text ) your "opinion".panama2 wrote:awwww, sounds like latigid want to go pout.
this way people won't listen , and the most of attention you'll receive is: label you a troll, put you on the ignore list .
on what you say: most probably moog will consider their financial situation carefully , not to make mistakes whatever new product they decide to release.
have confidence !

Did someone hear something? This post was made by panama2 who is currently on your ignore list.
I guess not.

A Poly-synth by Moog is a Bad Idea/ History Repeats?
You know, this forum is probably being monitored by Moog and they probably care somewhat about the opinions thereof, but any use by the management of Moog Music of this topic or others to make a business decision would be MINIMAL, AT BEST.panama2 wrote:What you 'tards don't realize is that a Moog poly will probably bankrupt Moog, especially in this economy. I just got done glancing at this month's issue of Keyboard magazine, there's a nice glowing review of DSI's new mono-synth, the Mopho. It really looks like a winner, price point is right, etc.. It got me to thinking about Moog music's place in the current music industry and in some ways--in a very general sense--history is cycling around if not repeating itself.
Back around 1980 the Pro One came out, when all those musicians who were frothing at the mouth after the Prophet 5 came out, wanted a monophonic version of it. The Pro One made it on all sorts of keyboard rigs and the little sequencer on that synth was a very cool feature. By this time Bob Moog was indeed long gone from Moog, but Minimoogs were still being produced.
Looking at Sequential back then, the Prophet 5 was revolutionary and all the other major synth companies clamored to produce a good poly synth, all with varying degrees of success, and some of those companies were on thin ice anyway, with the huge influx of the heavily-funded Japanese synth companies flooding the markets. Moog was producing their Prodigy and Arp had their Odyssey, and soon Roland would be putting out Junos and Jupiter synths with more features and more polyphony. It was an exciting time for analog synths, up to and even a bit beyond when Yamaha crashed the party with the DX-7 and their following DX and SY fm-synths. This technology really shook the keyboard world.
Fast forward to today, and we have a revitalized Moog, Inc that was started by Bob Moog, we've got Dave Smith Instruments with their Poly Evolver and Prophet 08 synths. Now if there's anything to be learned by the past, it is that it can repeat itself. I'm sure Bob Moog was very careful about how the company would be ran, and he started it up with the very cool Moogerfooger pedals, and they continue to produce an incredible array of pedals and interface products, and there's definitely the MOOG QUALITY there that is sure to hold the company in good stead for many years to come, IF:
They don't make the same mistakes the company made after Bob left the first time.
There is room for them all, possibly. DSI's got some nice mono and poly synths. There really aren't that many analogs out there. I'm at least hopeful that Moog remains a healthy company because of the great quality they offer. Most of Moog's products make other companies appear like toys.
Ironic that the forum member who promised to leave, but came back under another name, called one thing right when he stated that the sound of monophonic instruments is what is actually more evolved in terms of the evolution of music. It is almost a corollary that more polyphony comes with less flexibility of the individual sound. Even if there was lots of control, the human ear has difficulty discerning between the notes when they're all being tweaked individually. Fatigue sets in.
Moog is a nice company and I think they're wise to stick with what they do best. Perhaps there could be a simple way to implement a modern modular design with the pedals put together along with a keyboard controller but that would be going backwards. The technology is there for all this stuff. So the question becomes: Is a new polysynth wise business decision? Moog is a healthy company as it is, and again, I think they have the wisdom to decide in a manner that would make Bob proud, even if the decision is the conservative notion to stick with what they do best for the time being.

So where is our new Moog polysynth?

The walls of Jericho were brought down by a Minimoog.
Re: what should moog release next?
I'm sure if we all play monophonic our selfish materialism won't be so apparent. After all, only wise and sagacious people play monophonic.panama2 wrote:What you 'tards don't realize is that a Moog poly will probably bankrupt Moog, especially in this economy. I'd love to see a drum machine or module of some kind. simple. Something with Kick, snare, hats, and some multi purpose sound. That would be cool.

analog sequencer in dual cp-251 rack style housing thing

Re: what should moog release next?
Upgrade the MF-101 to include bandpass and highpass. This is a gaping hole in the fooger range.
I've stopped talking now.
Re: what should moog release next?
If they actually buit the MultiMode filter that they approved for soft-release by IK Multimedia (i think thats the company that does the software) then that would surely fill the hole.
I thought it would be nice to have a fooger that emulated the classic Moog filters. You have the 904a, the Mini, the Taurus, highpass all selectable through the various feedback pathways that make each unique. You have all the best classic filters under hood. It probably would be way more expensive than anticipated and not fit in the chassis of a fooger though, but its a decent ideal

Re: what should moog release next?
I would love to have a reissue pedal/rack version of the polymoog resonate multimode filter. After seeing what you can do with it from the video that a forum member posted (he salvaged it from a broken poly and put it in wood case) If moog doesn't make something like that ill have to see if I can have a clone made. It has such a wonderful vocal quality.
My modular so far: Q104, Q106 x2, Q107, Q108, Q109 x2 , Q116, Q118, Q127 w/Q140, Q130, STG Wave Folder, Mixer and Mankato playing with Moog Voyager, VX-351, CP-251, MF-104M x2 ( STEREO!) Volca Beats and Bass, Arturia Beat step
Re: what should moog release next?
I've actually got a filter board with that very circuit...an unnamed source gave it to me. It's one of many projects I have going on right now...need parts, though. It requires somewhat hard to find pots. This forum will be the first to know that it is done, but not on this thread.ColorForm2113 wrote:I would love to have a reissue pedal/rack version of the polymoog resonate multimode filter.
