Voyager SEVERLY out of tune after os 2.5 update!!

Post by askernas » Wed Mar 16, 2005 2:53 pm

Hello!

I'm noew to this forum and also new to the voyager..

first thing i did was to upgrade the OS to 2.5, since it was a really old os in mine, and i really wanted the cool, nifty features.

The result: well the OS is in all right, but the synth is SO badly out of tune now that it is close to useless.

the main pitch has shifted some 5 halftones down, and the by using osc1 as reference, osc2 needs to bet set at -6 and osc3 at -5 for them to be in tune, just using a standard waveform without any filters or modulation...

So, this machien was bought second hand, got damaged in the transport to me, and was just returned to me after 2 months at the repair shop. I dont trust the repair shop so i am NOT sending it back there....

So .. anyone have any ideas which trimpots are used for tuning the oscillators? I am an amateur synthbuilder myself, so fiddling with the (correct) trimpots is something i dare do inside thisotherwise fantastic instrument.

please advice, i have a gig in a week, and really need to get this machine back on track again! I've mande a ton of sounds for it and cant do the gig without it!

thanks,

Download the OS 2.1 zip file, there is a PDF with instructions on "initializing" the patch memory after upgrading to v2.x. There is also a quick calibration for the pitch wheel, very easy.

Hello!

unfortunately, this is not the pitch wheel at all that i have problems with .. it is the main tune of the machine that is severly off.

I have recalibrated all the stuff that is mentioned in the 2.1 update pdf, but this has not helped at all.

the oscillators themselves are out of tune inbetween each other.. or more precisely: osc 1 has an offset against both osc2 and 3 ...

the main pitch is about 2 notes off, so the main pitch might be helped with pitch wheel calibration, but not the oscillators against each other..? or?

thanks for the tip though ... i tried most of it apart from tweaking the pitch wheel ... i'll try that now ;)

pitchwheel was out of tune with +5 cents..

after all calibration and pitch wheel recalibration, main pitch is still about -2 full notes, roughly.

in order for the three oscillators to be in tune (made a sound from scratch):

osc2: frequency -6
osc3: frequency -5

needlessly to say, *all* patches sounds horrible after the update, including factory ones.

If i cant find the trimpots, i will need to modify all my patches for the gig next week in order to sound decent.. an ugly fix, but what can you do on short term basis...
