Rush Time Machine Tour (Moving Pictures) whaaa?!

Post by EMwhite » Tue Apr 20, 2010 11:22 am

Just got an email from Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH. I'm a big hockey fan and always hit a Blue Jackets game when in Ohio on business.

Usually, I get email about Tim McGraw, this time it's R U S H.

Have a look... not sure if this a tour or a one time gig, likely the former. Haven't been paying attention much but here's your chance to see Camera Eye, etc. live if you missed it the first time around (I've been to several and haven't seen it yet).

Enjoy (and rejoice) http://www.ticketmaster.com/promo/u183p1

I scored, got that package just to the right of center, row 'H', seat 8. ~300 w/fees; worth it for chance of a lifetime in my opinion and I'm in for the drawing to meet the band (hmmm, not sure I have enough luck to win that one)

4 long months and counting...

Actually, Ged does use a LP, along with a Roland Fantom X7 and Korg midi triggers.
And since he hasn't actually played bass notes live in like 20 years (just triggering samples), I'm not convinced he's bought a Taurus 3. (Although I wonder if Amos can confirm that) : )
At any rate... ROAD TRIP!!! Toronto and Minneapolis!!! : )

Part of my next comment belongs in the "controllers" forum, but Moog would do well to build a pedal-less Multpedal using the same firmware with perhaps 6 footswitches/buttons on it. Am unsure of cost and whether or not this could be done on a cost effective basis compared to competition but I find myself and my use of the MP needing more switches and I'm guessing the 'actual' musicians that perform live could use the same.

Use it to send CC's Notes/triggers, actual footswitches via the ports used for CV on the standard MP-201, what else?

Why do something that is already shipping from other vendors? Well, because Moog could re-use may parts (same chassis bottom of pedal, display knob, most of the firmware) and could get more people into Moog products. $169 add on cost? Is there profit in this? Dunno but it would allow for a 2x footswitchboard + the Multipedal = 16 switches in one panel. Don't you love it when users create their own products...

I've never seen Rush, they are one of my favorite bands, would love to see Moving Pictures performed live but I refuse to buy tickets through Ticketbastard as they have been on my boycott list since 1987.

The Rush site says this will be a short tour, followed by an album release, and shortly after, an extended tour (with a revised set list) in support of the new album. Just bought tix to see them here in Colorado at the legendary Red Rocks concert venue. I was lucky enough to catch them there for the R-30 tour, as well as both legs of the S&A tour, and each time they have been awe-inspiring.

MC, if you get the chance to see Rush play live, by all means do so - even if you have to fork out to "brokers" (legalized scalpers), Ticketbastard, or the Devil himself - each & every Rush concert I've ever been to has been worth every penny spent, and live performances of Rush's calibre are rare these days...

I would LOVE to see this show - or any show for that matter - at Red Rocks... but that's a 17+ hour drive from here. : )
