LP os 2.1 updates and issues, are the problems fixed yet?

Post by jamesbtex » Thu Apr 08, 2010 10:34 pm

Amos and others,

I was going to update the OS on my LP from it's current version to OS 2.1.
However after reading Moog's forum it seems that this OS update has had a real history of issues.
Some of the postings are from as recient as Feb. 2010 stating the same issues that were posted much further back, IE: dead LP's after performing this update.

Have these issues been fixed yet?
If I update over the USB will it be successful, or am I going to run into the failures that so many others are reporting?

As far as I know OS 2.1 did not have many issues at all. OS 2.2 which seems to have been pulled had the issues. There was a bug with the LFO/Arp and people had OS install failures which required more than you would want to have to do to fix the boot files. The main issue with OS 2.2 install was there were more steps involed in setting up midi-OX before transfering the files.

A new OS is "coming soon" which promises to have a couple of nice new features and have a much more robust install procedure.

The only issues with updating that I've read about and experienced myself have been errors with transfering the update into the Little Phatty. This is a problem with the midi interface you have and it's easily fixable with the right midi interface. I wouldn't worry.

What would you consider to be the right Midi interface?
I have a M-Audio MidiSport Uno but after a lot of reseach I find that not only this device, but also all of Tascam devices are not compatable with Windows XP Media Center edition which is what my PC has on it.
The was a real surprise.

So any suggestions on Midi interfaces would be greatly appreciated.

I have done all my updates with the M-Audio MidiSport Uno and do not remember reading, any issue with using it, here. If I remeber correctly, it has been suggested to people who had trouble with other interfaces.
