My Voyager + Digital Oscillators (GO MODULAR!)

Post by BTByrd » Thu Apr 01, 2010 8:14 am

The Voyager made me totally fall in love with analog synthesis and voltage control. In fact, I came to love voltage control so much that I decided to get the Voyager some new friends:

And here's a link to what that patch SOUNDS like when you're playing it from the Voyager and scrubbing the mod wheel like a madman: http://soundcloud.com/btbyrd/digital-mi ... -terrarium

There's also some more detailed patch info at the Soundcloud link. In short, I love the Voyager's Eurorack friends. In the few days since they arrived, I haven't regretted the decision once. If you've been thinking about going modular, you probably should. And don't be scared to check out digital oscillators. They're the BIZNESS. (But it you're in the market for an analog osc, I can't say enough awesome things about the Livewire AFG).

Now I can't wait for the MOTM/Modcan B modules to get here...

Same here! I just got a a-100 basic system. I made a patch that uses the vx351 to have the voyager control the modular, using the keyboard, pitch and mod wheels, and the touch screen. Expect a forthcoming video. How do you like the tiptop stackable cables? They seem pretty cool..
So this thing only plays one note?

Thanks! I saw your pic in the other thread - looks like a pretty nice setup you've got there! How are the Mopho and the Kaoss stuff treating you?

The Stackables are nice and really do save you from having to do multing, but I wish they came in more colors. Also, some people were concerned that there was a tiny "nib" at the end of the cables... but you can just sand that off if you're really all that concerned (that takes no time at all). Definitely good to have on hand!

The Kaoss stuff is pretty fun, but much better to use live. The mopho sounds cool, but I really don't use it much. I also have a mono evolver, so I have all the sequences and modulations covered, and with the Taurus 3, I'll have awesome bass covered, so I'm thinking of selling it. It definately is a cool synth, but having to use the computer editor to do everything takes all the fun out of a having a hardware analog synth. I would trade it for that Livewire afg!!
