Mod wheel control

Post by mab » Mon Mar 29, 2010 9:23 am

Hi All,

Here's my first question (a newbie one actually) to this forum. I have an expression pedal that I want to use to control the mod wheel. How can I do that ?

Thanks for your help!

The LP does not have a voltage control input to the mod amount just filter, pitch, and volume (gate trigger too). A midi CC pedal will work. For a 7-bit pedal CC#1. I don't know if any stepping will be present with the low res, but it might be on some patches. If you are running OS 2.0 or higher you can use a high res 14-bit midi CC with the MSB=1 and LSB=33. Pedals that send 14-bit midi CCs are expensive though. There's probably other solutions using the expression pedal with some sort of hardware/software to create the midi message.

This one's not too expensive and has lots of uses:

It has nice, long-throw faders and can send 14-bit CC messages.

If you look at section "5. Appendix" in the manual you can see all the available message types:
