MP-201 CC# to control LFO Rate

Post by EMwhite » Wed Mar 10, 2010 9:13 pm

I have an LFO on one channel tied to Midi Clock so I guess I'm really asking if there is a Midi CC# to adjust the Midi Clock (or even the clock divider).

Why? I have my Multipedal driving clock for use just about all the time but when standing over by my Taurus, I would like to adjust the rate. I have an Akai MPK25 which is programmable via knobs, etc. and I'd like to be able to adjust it.

Long shot, I know but that would be very handy.

Thanks

the midi clock on the MP201 has to be generated by an LFO channel.
If on that LFO channel you set FPedal Mode to "Rate," then whatever MIDI CC you define for that same MP201 channel will change the rate of the LFO if you send that CC to the MP201. Pretty sure that will work...

Worked. Absolutely outstanding. When I tweak the knob on my Akai controller it literally floods the Midi 'network' with messages that (I suppose) take time to get processed but within a second or two, the MP changes tempo from 1/2 way across the room.

I have the MPK hooked up via USB but my MP still with Din Midi. I assume that if I rewire the MP201 as USB it will process the messages more quickly? (ie. 1.5 or 12 Mbps vs. 31.250 kBaud) or are the messages still taken off the wire according to clock speed despite their getting to the device more quickly. Any idea?

I think I might start putting some of this stuff onto Video so others can appreciate the level of integration that you guys provide for.

Thanks again.

Try it and see - I'm pretty sure that the USB MIDI is actually faster to be processed.
