Low Pas Filter verses other Envelope FIlters

Hi,

I'm looking at several pedals and the Low Pass is on my list. How does the LOw PAss compare to the BASs IQ, Discumbobulator, Agent 00Funk and The Lovetone Meatball (which is out of my price range anyway)?

I play a 4 and 5 string basses if that helps...

The Moogerfooger lowpass filter sounds great on bass. With the resonance set at around 3:00 (right under where it starts self-oscillating) you can get some really squelchy synthy sounds. Also, you get the option of slow or fast decay rate depending on the sound you want, and can blend in the unaffected signal.

The one thing I noticed with mine is that when you kick it in there's a *slight* volume drop, and definite loss of bass frequencies, but that's with the blend set to 100% effect - probably not a problem if you adjust the blend knob to give some of the original signal too.

Another thing about the Moogerfoogers is that they become more and more flexible and amazing when you start combining them with other Moogerfoogers or other CV devices. For instance, using the LFO (low frequency oscillator) of the phaser, you can sweep the frequency of the lowpass filter. Another example is using the sample and hold of the CP-251 into the frequency control of the lowpass filter to get a Frank Zappa "Ship Ahoy" effect. However, this starts getting expensive!

I'm looking for that nice flat *blurp* envelope filter sound...as well as the crazier sounding stuff that plays multiple notes when you hit one...

So what range of sounds can I get out of the Low Pass...can I get long syth type sounds that drone up and down on one note...and then switch to twitching gurlgy noises?

I like the sound of the Bass IQ if you listen to the samples on EBS's website...I thought if I could get that out of the low pass it might sound better and have even more sound options.

One definite advantage to the Moogerfooger is that you can plug in an expression pedal to adjust the frequency control while you're playing, even if you are using the envelope.

Do you have any samples of what the low pass can do for bass?
