Moog Taurus 3 Demonstration Record #1

Post by Amos » Thu Feb 11, 2010 7:21 pm

That's the name of this little tune I whipped up... with some help in the breakbeats department from my friend JWah in Portland.

Edit: new mix by Kevin Lamb --

All synth sounds in this are Taurus 3, including the really weird ones (some intense filter modulation using the external CV input). Crank up the subwoofer and have a listen. :)

Damn Amos thats pretty nice!

I know my speakers aren't doing the unit any justice but the music is like a combination of wanting to dance but at the same time mellow.

Oh man I like the wobble bass.

Im so glad I have a unit coming, just waiting patiently for my emails.

Holy freakin crap that is a monster.

Oh me oh my... something wonderful has happened.
A good friend of mine, who happens to be a monstrously talented sound designer and audio pro, has done a mix of this Taurus demo. My own efforts in the mixing department are so-so, and I'm afraid the levels in that last recording were all out of whack.

Have a listen to this - it's been EQ'd, levels tweaked, time-corrected, DC-offset-removed, and generally worked into a professional-sounding mix. Should sound great on small speakers now and fan-freakin-tastic on a full-range setup with subs.

Hi Amos,

I think this makes a very strong argument for creating a Taurus 3 tabletop/rack
module once you've made your very last Taurus 3 that has pedals.

There are lots of musicians out there always looking to add great bass sounds
and effects to their existing arsenal. It'd make a killer gateway to the analog side.

Yeah, I kind of have to agree...perhaps a Taurus IV is in order...like a Taurus II with the Taurus III sound engine. :D

Amos,
My sister listened to the original version with headphones and exclaimed
"I can feel that in my feet"

Consider this please:

Moog needs to give you some PDO's with a Voyager, Phatty, Taurus, a compliment of Foogers and let you make a real demo record for sale/promotional purposes. That would be fabulous. Id buy it and with someone like yourself who intimately knows the inner workings of the gear, you can really let people know what this stuff is capable of.

Excellent work!
