Moogs on Beatles songs

Because was the first song that was recorded with a moog. Soon after George Harrison recorded his Electronic Sounds album, which was 2 compositions based around the new moog sound.

Beatles used one in "Beacuase"....check out the stripped down Anthology version and you can hear it clear as day. P.S. How is "Electronic Sounds" .....I've been comtemplating buying a copy off eBay....worth a listen or not?

i really like electronic sounds, i bought a copy on cd and foolishly passed up a copy on vinyl. one song was composed with the help of a name that escapes me right now and the other track was an improvisation by harrison. it's definitely not poppy and it's definitely not a perrey record, but it's good nonetheless.


i want you (she's so heavy) uses a moog, it's for the white noise at the end.

Thinking of those old Beatles reminded me that Cat Stevens used quite a bit of Moog stuff around the same time.....anyone know any off hand?...or have you American fellas down there all boycotted his tunes ....(please note that that was meant as a playful poke...not a Fifi Basteurd rip-off !)

It was Bernie Krause. (His name was even on the cover of the album, but was painted over [covered up], for some reason.)

Fwiw, Cat Stevens used an Oberheim 4 voice prominently on The Old Schoolyard.
When I was young, I remember watching Don Kirshner's and/or the Midnight Special late at night. I can recall just dozing off when this Cat Stevens video came on. It began with a close up of the 4 voice panel and LEDs and that woke me right up. If you want to hear some nice Oberheim, you might check out that particular song. I have no idea what Moogs he used, but I'd guess a Minimoog would have been one.

Every single Synth used in the Abbey Road album was a Moog. I believe that's the only Beatles album with Analog synths (Moog).

I was just about to say that. Upon listening to my copy of Abbey Road, I noticed quite a few synth parts. Cool to know they were all moogs. I need a copy of Electric Sounds.

Okay, just to set the record straight, here's the songs off of Abby Road that include a Moog modular:

"I Want You (She's So Heavy)"
"Here Comes the Sun"
"Because"

I would have imagined it to crop up in the long connected passage that succeeds "Because." But, if it IS there, it's not to prominent.

Wasn't the Cat Stevens Moog played by Rick Wakeman?
