have you guys spent any time playing with the arduino (or similarly based microcontrollers)? I've used them quite a bit to drive LEDs and other visual effects, usually just using simple switches to influence the code. With the range of control voltage being perfectly suited for a microcontroller's input, there has to be a lot of great things we can do with the combination.

Just wait...I have something large and exciting in the works...just a planning stage is started, but when finished it will be six feet high, and will feature 20 voltmeters (the analog panel mount variety), multiples, mixers, and be able to process and attenuate voltages from modular synthesizers and other 10 volt sources into voltages that are safe for the new Moog stuff. It will basically be a massive and passive CP-251 without the LFO. Can't wait to build it...still gathering parts a little at a time.

Arduino comes up from time to time. Nice, I like it. There's even a midi-arduino. I think it would be a good way to go for someone who wants to build a more elaborate DIY system (as opposed to 'little project'). I don't know exactly how, but I resisted so far getting into arduino. Another technological addiction is the last thing I need lolll

My on criteria is : must have 80% of the stuff in my spare parts box. Besides, it's as much about learning than it is about the making the project.

Otherwise, I'd plunge into arduino heads up. 16 channel of incoming midi data automatically converted to voltage for 28 bucks. Hard to resist.

holy cow! Is this a homebrew synth?
It looks like there was an ugly accident....

yeah, the arduino meets my criteria as i have a few of them in my parts bin. Well, I guess I can't add much to your particular project requirements - now that i see the +5v potential (pun not intended) i'm going to have to figue out something cool to do with the arduino..

hmm, maybe a CV-to-DMX512 interface - the ability to fire off lighting programs from the voyager.. that could be useful..

I am currently working on designing a different kind (theoretically more versatile, and strange) of sequencer, when I finish it (may be quite some time) I will post a demo and some technical info.

Man that thing is sweet looking despite the damage.

And it pisses me off to see people like Reznor destroy their instruments. It is a waste really.

I ve heard that plan B modular on a huge system and the sawtooth waves really feel like they are going to saw your head off.
