Hi,
I am a Model D owner & I really like the looks of all the stuff Bob is dreaming up nowadays. In fact I really want to get an etherwave theremin for my studio.
Anyway, I was wondering if it would be possible to expand my Model D with the VX-351 or the CP-251?? I would love to set up a 'modular' system incorporating my Model D like the one described with the Moogerfoogers & the CP-251.
Any ideas about what unit would be best for expanding the capbilities of my Model D gratefully recieved...
VX-351 with Model-D???
interesting question
it definately wouldn't be as easy as plugging into the accessory port on your Model D, but I don't see why one couldn't, with some schematics, soldering know-how, and a few buffer circuits, add that capability. someone with knowledge of model D internals could give you a more definative answer.

The VX-351 is a nothing more than a patch bay box for the Voyager. Since the model D does not have the appropriate DB-25 connector, using the VX-351 would require modifications to the models D's circuitry to pick off the signals. Also, the model D doesn't have all of the same signals as the Voyager so the signal names on the VX-351 front panel might not be applicable.
In short, the VX-351's electronics are not incompatible; just the DB-25 connector and the signal names.
It'd be easier to build a box dedicated to the model D as the VX-351 was for the Voyager.
playon
