Help - Configuring the MP-201 with Logic 9 and Mainstage
I am trying to use my MP-201 as a midi controller to activate the virtual guitar pedals in Logic 9's Pedalboard, as well as in Logic's live performance application Mainstage 2. I have my MP-201 connected via a USB cable, and Logic recognizes it, but I cannot get it to activate the pedals appropriately. In mainstage it works, but I have to press a pedal two times for it to do one function (e.g. two presses on the switch to turn it on or off). Can anyone provide a detailed walkthrough as to how to set this up? Also, does it matter what preset I am in? Thank you in advance.

You are using a gate (switch) signal over Midi using a cc#? If so, you'll need to choose the appropriate mode of the Gate (momentary or toggle). Momentary sends a 127 upon press and a 0 upon release (for the configured CC#). Toggle simply sends a single Midi msg (127 iirc) for each press and because it's a 'toggle', it lights and unlights the MP switch.nosurprises2day wrote:I am trying to use my MP-201 as a midi controller to activate the virtual guitar pedals in Logic 9's Pedalboard, as well as in Logic's live performance application Mainstage 2. I recently spent a good day or two messing with this for use in doing tap tempo and on/off for a T-Rex replica delay over Midi. Amos was very helpful but another help is to use Logic to 'record' Midi as you configure the MP-201 then view the events recorded to confirm that the Midi commands are what your end device require.
For me, it was a matter of editing the Events, chaging SMPTE timing for a sequence that finally contained the correct commands. Utimately I found the right combination of work arounds (for now) to get it done. Moog may be making future changes in MP code to accomidate custom values per CC command.
If I'm offbase and you are talking about expression pedal over MP, nevermind but the advice above re: recording midi commands then viewing with EVENT view in Logic may be helpful in debugging.
(btw: I have Logic 8, v9 may have a better interface for viewing and sending Midi).

Using the MP-201 with Logic Mainstage
I am about to get up an running with Mainstage, and I just ordered the MP-201 pedal to use as a foot controller with Mainstage. This thread seems to be basically geared towards my question. My application of the MP-201 should be pretty simple, using it exclusively as a midi foot controller. What is the best "mode" for the MP-201 to achieve the following:
As the MP-201 has 4 buttons, I am planning on one button for advancing through Mainstage patches, another button for going backwards through Mainstage patches, another button for muting/unmuting various softsythns, the fourth button for whatever else I need, and I would like to be able to assign the expression pedal within Mainstage to control various aspects of my softsynths (using the "learn" function). Ideally I would like to have the MP-201 set in one "mode" to achieve all this so I can concentrate on the music. Thank you for any suggestions!!!
