Please Help - MP-201 MIDItoCV

Post by mtmelvin » Tue Dec 15, 2009 11:50 pm

Greetings.

I have a MP-201 and a Voyager Old School and I am having trouble getting the MIDI-CV feature working on the MP. I'm sure that I'm doing something wrong and I'm hoping that one of you guys can help me out. I'm actually rather new to MIDI because I've stayed away from it for so long. Here's what I've got going on:

I'm using Logic Pro. I have an "External MIDI" track with a sequence looping. The device selected for this track is the MP-201 and the channel is set to 1.

The MP-201 is connected to my Mac via USB. CV1 is connected to the "Pitch" Control Input on the Voyager OS. CV2 is connected to the "ENV Gate" on the OS. The "Env. Gate" switch on the OS is set to "On/External." The MP-201 is set to Preset 34 and the display reads MIDItoCV.

When I play back the sequence I can see the MIDI activity light blink in time with the notes in the sequence. But I've got nothing coming out of CV1 or CV2.

I must be missing something obvious here. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to hold my hand as I fumble through this.

That's what I think too, but I have no clue.

Check the obvious again : Osc switches and volumes, filter cut-off higher than 0, patch cables, MP-201 on channel 1, stuff like that. Even though there is midi activity, I would check with a standard midi keyboard instead of computer hook-up.

Hey, your original post dates back more than a month. No midi2cv at all since then?

Try using a Software Instrument track instead and use an External Instrument as the instrument. Make sure your MP-201 is set up in the Environment and that it comes up as a MIDI Instrument in the External Instrument. Double check all of your Audio MIDI Setup setting for the MP-201, and see if you can play a MIDI notes instead of having a prerecorded sequence. (I just got my multi-pedal this week and so far have only used it in Ableton Live, but I'll set it up with Logic and see if I run into any strange problems.)
So this thing only plays one note?
