It's likely that most of the weight is in the power supply. In a rack mount, you could power it with an outboard supply. Same with a table top version. Too, being that the T3 is used on the floor, the chassis is probably pretty hefty. As for the size, it's larger because it sits on the floor and has to hold the pedal board and keep things from wandering around on stage while being used. The added weight does this as well. Of course, a rack or tabletop version will not need all this heft and size. And, I really doubt that the circuit boards involved are all that big.
But, since I don't have one, all the above is just intelligent speculation. And, indeed, it may not be all that intelligent at that!
