A rack might work (you'd need strong rack ears), but i think a tabletop one would be a) too large and b) would make most table's legs bow if not break.
It's likely that most of the weight is in the power supply. In a rack mount, you could power it with an outboard supply. Same with a table top version. Too, being that the T3 is used on the floor, the chassis is probably pretty hefty. All that heft adds weight.

As for the size, it's larger because it sits on the floor and has to hold the pedal board and keep things from wandering around on stage while being used. The added weight does this as well. Of course, a rack or tabletop version will not need all this heft and size. And, I really doubt that the circuit boards involved are all that big.

But, since I don't have one, all the above is just intelligent speculation. And, indeed, it may not be all that intelligent at that! ;)

Knowing Moog's quality i don't think they want to go down the route of wall-warts. Their Voyager RME has built in PSU, i think the T3 Rack would have to be the same. OK there's some weight in the metal, but a decent rack will be all metal too. How heavy is the Voyager RME?

Wow i've not even had mine built yet and we're talking about the Taurus 3 RME .

I don't know how heavy the RME is, but if they did a rack mount or table top version of the T3, it would likely be in the same form factor as the RME.

And as for wall warts, I was thinking more along the lines of one like the external power supply used by the Waldorf Pulse. That was a full sized PSU, nothing skimpy about it.

But, again, the RME has the PSU built in, and it's rack mountable, and I don't think I've heard of any of them crashing through anyone's tables.

If Moog were to come out with a T3 in a CP-251 form factor, I wouldn't mind if they used a well designed wall wart.

Well I don't have anything interesting to report from my quick tour of the factory. I did see and hear the T3 it and it sounds great.

I will write about my trip and post pics when I get back to Arkansas.
