Hope that this helps...
Open up a new project in Cubase 5.
From the Devices menu select VST Instruments
In the new VST Instruments window that appears select VST Little Phatty editor for channel 1. (ie the first section of the VST instruments menu).
Cubase will now prompt you to create a Midi track , click create.
The settings for the VST Little Phatty track you have just made should now be set to the following. Input Routing should be set to the VST LP Editor and Output routing set to the LP itself.
Now add another MIDI track.
Set its MIDI routing to as follows. Input routing must be set to the midi keyboard that you wish to use. Set the output routing to the LP Synth. You may notice that under this routing bar on the left of your screen that the number 2 has been chosen for the second midi channel that you created. Set this back to 1 if it has.
Lastly click both the speaker icons for the 2 channels so that they turn orange. And Very Importantly head over to the editor itself and load up either of the fxb patch banks for the LP. (Stage 1, Stage 2 or Tribute).
If you need the fxb patch banks PM me so I can send these to you.
Hope that this helps
Nick

and for Live

Post by Amos » Mon Nov 16, 2009 10:50 am

Since this is now a tutorial thread, here's my info for how to set up the VST in Ableton Live:

1) create two MIDI tracks in Ableton Live. On one track, put the VST LittlePhatty Editor.
2) on the second MIDI track, set MIDI From: VST LittlePhatty Editor. Below this (where default is "Post FX") Select VST LittlePhatty Editor again.
3) on the second MIDI track, set MIDI To: your Little Phatty. In my example I am using Little Phatty USB port, which is named "USB Audio Device" on PC/Windows.
4) make sure Monitor is ON for both MIDI tracks.

See the attached picture, which shows the above set-up. This works for me.

Another tip: you may find it helps to turn off "PGM RCV" or "PGM SND" on the LittlePhatty Editor GUI. This will stop the Editor from changing presets when you change presets on the Little Phatty. Notice that the Default Preset on the Editor sets all parameters to zero, which can cause problems when you are trying to get patches from your Little Phatty into the Editor. My solution for this is to turn off Midi SEND on the LittlePhatty Editor when I change to a new patch in the Editor... then turn on MIDI SEND again, and click "Get Patch" to get the patch from the Little Phatty synth.

Also note that your Little Phatty must have firmware version 2.2 in order to use all the features of the VST Editor. This firmware update is a free download from moogmusic.com.

1.1.3 just adds a work-around for one of Ableton Live's quirky MIDI implementations... if you're not using Live there's no difference between 1.1.2 and 1.1.3. However, thanks for the reminder... I do need to post the update to our site.

Cheers,

Amos

if you are using the ReKon editor and Get Patch does not work, then either you are not piping MIDI out from the Editor to your LP, or your LP is not running OS 2.20.

Sorry for my spelling earlier it's supposed to spell:
Why do I have to keep the Monitor function on?

And i got the "get patch" function to work now, don't really know how. But routed the midi differently and it suddenly worked thanks for your help ppl!

Post by mr-g » Wed Nov 18, 2009 10:48 am

amos:

Do you happen to know what command is sent from the VST plugin to the LP to initiate the "Get patch" ?

I figure i could get the lp to set all my parameters in flstudio this way?

Hi Amos,

This are the issues I've found with FL Studio.

- "Get Patch" does not work. -- We know that.
- "MIDI Clk" option in The LFO Sync does not work.
- The presets' parameters are not being saved properly when you save the project. I.e. Make a patch save your project, close it and open it back again. Most of the settings are gone.

I really hope all this issues are fixed for FL Studio. I really love the VST, but I am not being able to get the most out of it.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Thanks in advance!

EB.

Amos,

I also notice that if you click on the "Wrapping Settings" within FL Studio, the VST resets a few parameters.

Please let me know if you have questions.

Thanks again,

EB.

I'm using Live and can't seem to find the 1.1.3 update on moog or rekons site. Can someone point me in the right direction?
