I'm sure someone must have already asked this but try searching for "Little Phatty Tune" and you get about 0ne thousand hits. lol.
So please, forgive me if Im being redundant!
I'm finding it a little difficult to find my LP in precise tune. Im giving it at least 10 minutes to warm up.
I've noticed the the LPs tuning is a few cents off depending on where on the keyboard the notes are played. For instance, if I pull up the Logic tuner and tune middle C to the correct pitch (which by the way is not correctly marked by the line on the knob--its about a 1 mm off or so) and then play the next C on octave below or above it goes off tune by a few cents (15 or so). This is accentuated and is the case the further away you get from the center (tuned) note. It never goes more than say 30-35 cents off but it isn't perfect. I was wondering if this is standard across the analog LPs? What about the fine tune knob being a little off?
My difficulty, in part this is a result of my previously exclusive softsynth use. I recently added the LP and a DSI Tetr4 to my rig, so maybe its just a lack of experience with analog gear. I also wish the fine tune knob had a bit more resistance than what it currently has. As it is it feels like its waaay to easy to throw the LP out of tune.
Advice? Tips?
Thanks guys.
Quesions about tuning...
Have you, by any chance, played Magic: The Gathering? (I'm guessing by your username
My LP is in perfect tune for the center note being tuned (lets say the middle C - note number 60.00 in tuning, 1-3 minutes to warm up), but as I go up and down the keyboard the tuning drifts by a few cent's, but 30 cents you are writing is clearly too much.
Have you tried running the Calibration?
Do you have any cable plugged into PITCH or AUDIO IN? I experienced some tuning problems with cables plugged into those inputs even with no modulation signal applied (has anyone experienced this?).
And final thought: from what I've heard (not from my own experience), the Logic built-in tuner is not the best quality - this statement may be false.
