Recording Your Moog

I'm curious who out there records using either analog tape or 1 bit digital audio. I'm gearing up for my latest project and I would like to use the highest fidelity possible. The problem I'm having is that I do like to implement many of the modern features in a DAW, but I'm fanatical about keeping the sonic purity in tact. One idea I'm toying with is to sequence my tracking in Logic and play the MIDI back through multiple Moog synths while recording to the final medium. This will allow me to use tempo shifts and such but the final audio will remain in the analog domain. Has anyone done something like this? If so, would you please tell me about your experience? Thank you.

All jesting aside, I maximize the use of MIDI. Only non-MIDI stuff like guitars and vocals get committed to digital multitrack. Every MIDI device stays in the analog domain when it goes to final mix medium.

Pros - best audio clarity. Cons - if a MIDI device goes down you can't complete the mix.

i would suggest running your audio into your left ear, and out through your right nostril, as this will give you superior gooey analog character, yet still give you all benefits associated with lots of headroom.

My mixdown is all analog but the final recording is done on my iMac on just 44.1 kHz /16 bit. Most of my music is released on the web or on CD so this resolution is good enough for me.
If I sample sounds I usually record on 96 kHz /32 bit.

I'm looking for a proper Revox or Ampex for some time now but they are hard to find in good condition.

and the less space is occupied by useless neural cells, the more the headroom,

and the better the analog reverb.

I used an Otari MX 5050 for a while, but I'm seriously thinking about trying 1bit digital. Unfortunately, I've only been able to find stereo two track machines in this format. Any 1bit users out there?
