Way off topic here Kevin, but since you're a synth lover and cat lover, how do you feel about cat fur around synths?
I don't feel it's a good thing.
However, I feel young cats or young children around synths are potentially worse.
Younger cats will jump onto things, spray to mark their territory, etc.
Young children consider almost anything a toy.
I have removed pop tarts from gear before where children were allowed into a studio.
A memory cartridge slot looks like a good place to put in a cookie. ;-)

Also, I have a unique situation.
One bedroom here is only for cats.
No synths have ever been in that room.
The other cats here, allowed to be around synths, are all older, don't spray and have been trained to stay off them and the work benches.
They're too old to jump very high anyways.

I also have an outside building here with an air compressor and an underground pressure line delivering air into the house.
So everything is blown off completely.

From experience, I feel that dust and age are the worst things to happen to synths.
I would rather own a synth properly used and maintained than one stored or unused for long periods of time uncovered.

Here in our dusty desert mountains, every synth is covered.
We use shower curtains often: large, thick plastic and cheap
.
Also, almost every synth serviced here is given an actual bath first, then serviced.
I don't encounter dust or hairs by the time I'm actually working on the synth itself.
But I don't recommend this method to anyone not so equipped to deal with immediate water removal and certain protections in place.
I use soft water and again, an air compressor and live in the dry desert.
That's why I can get away with doing this to synths:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwRlZyIG6rg
I know it looks crazy, but it's been a big help in delivering clean, reliable synths to clients.

As to the comment that this is a big deal made over a small issue, I agree.
What's not immediately apparent however is how many times it occurs.
Most of my site's bandwidth was from people using my photos as desktop wallpaper for their PCs or MySpace backgrounds.
Or for products sold by companies such as Koblo, audioMidi and even Virgin Air ads.
It doesn't bode well with me to take things for resale purposes that I put hard work into.

No, Matrix did not remove my photos when asked.
He kept them, credited them as "anonymous" and then said, falsely, I wanted to sue him. I never said any such thing.
I've never sued anyone except the auto tow yard that stripped my stolen RX-7.
Years later, that same tow yard was the one featured in the OJ Simpson trials for doing the exact same thing to OJ's Bronco.
I had those same people up on the stand that he did and for the same reasons, years before.
But I've never been sued myself and don't feel it's the right way to address many problems.
It's far easier to write a lawyer friend at Google or Microsoft and have them take action in-house.
That's what I did in this case and what I did with Matrixsynth.
Big corporations have big law depts and some of those lawyers have been my clients.
Why sue when a lawyer friend can pull a few strings and obtain the same results?

Ask for the shirt off my back and I'll probably give it to you.
Take the shirt off my back and you better be ready to defend yourself.

The quickest most reliable way to get personal images pulled from someones site is to contact their web host. Web hosts are paranoid about such things.

This would work if the picture is taken directly from the website of origin, but if found elsewhere on the internet, as Yeske explained, then this method may well not have the same results. I'm not trying to argue his side though, and I can certainly see why this is a sour subject for Mark, especially when pictures are stolen and used for financial reasons, or when a popular site will not recognize and give credit to the original owner (and perhaps be antagonistic in the process). Seeing his pictures on yeske's site, it may not be immediately apparent as to the nature of the site, (be it for profit, or not-for-profit as it appears to be in this case) and taking everything into consideration, I could see why Mark may not care to know the nature of the use in this case, or at least not cater to the user in question by responding and/or looking into it at yeske's pace; if its the later, and it gives yeske just enough time to be an asshole, well then i'd probably say screw him and just have the pictures removed as well.

Just a note that the siamese cat shown on the large modulars on the previous pages didn't make it to 22 years old. :(

This week 3 of our oldest cats came down with some sort of acute bacterial infection, one after another.
My wife and I were up all night desperately trying to save them, finally making a quick dash to the vet for anti-biotics first thing next morning.
With two cats, we were successful.
But our oldest, Velcro, died yesterday.

I have no intentions to tie up a synth forum with condolences, but thought I'd make an addendum regarding this post with her photos.

We've had an extremely hard week here.
Besides our cats, I also received results of an MRI indicating that I have some very serious problems with my back and require surgery.

Thanks for understanding.

Ditto, sorry Kevin :(

Although, 21 is still pretty good for a kitty :)

Let me know if you need any $$ for your operation, PayPal is a good thing

Very sorry to hear about the cat although how wonderful that your cat lived 21 years it must have had a loving and blissful time with you. Also wishing you much luck on the back surgery hope it goes smoothly and you are fixed in no time.

Thank you very much for your kind words and offers.
But I have no idea what an operation like this costs yet.
The link below is pretty much what I need, but no services like this state how much something will cost online.
As the old saying goes, "if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it."

I'm looking into prices now, but don't feel very comfortable with charity.
I wouldn't mind a small used wheelchair donated or one of those contraptions that lifts you up and down stairs, but those aren't exactly household items.
Putting up a Paypal button would be embarrassing when I know I'd probably never be able to pay people back.
We'll all have some sort of problem sooner or later and it's my own fault ultimately since I injured it by trying to do too much for how small I am.

Anyway, here's the link below to one place I was looking at.

http://www.laserspineinstitute.com/spin ... raminotomy

Thanks to all that care. Truly it's appreciated.
But I don't feel comfortable hijacking a synth forum for my own personal problems.
This just isn't the right place and I apologize to those who agree.
So Happy Mooging and PM or email me if you'd like to discuss me or cats and not synths.

Hey Kevin,

I hope you had a good holiday, and you're feeling as good as can be expected. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your cat.. pets are extremely special beings. Their love and their presence are gifts to us.

I hope you find a way to get the surgery you need.

Good luck, and best wishes,

Peter K.

Kevin, I feel for you - I know that you have worked yourself into a state of poor health - back problems are hell. How are things progressing with your back - I get to see BK usually once per year when The Who are out or this past Nov when he was with Roger, and I keep meaning to ask him how you are getting on.
All of us vintage synth owners are lucky to have you, I sure hope that some "magic pill" is developed that doesn't cost a fortune to help you out. My wife has had 2 major surgeries, 1 for a fusion , 2nd to remove the hardware and now they want to do another fusion - she'll stick with the pain as she's been told that in all likelihood she would ind up in even more pain.
If we lived close you'd have my son in there with you moving the heavy stuff gratis!
